I would suggest a mermaid or fit and flare crinoline or hoopskirt.  You can find them inexpensively on amazon or ebay.  The one hoop or two hoop adjustible skirt would keep your legs cooler but you need to hike up the back of them before sitting.  The fabric crinoline can be purchased anywhere. You adjust the poof in the fabric crinoline by removing layers of fabric.Purchase one before doing alterations to your dress since the petticoat will raise your hem.

rolson91 :  The length of the dress looks pretty spot on in the picture. The thing with a slip is that it’s an added layer, so the dress will fit more snug, and sing it will be going out more, the length will shorten as well. So I would make sure you can return it if you buy one if it doesn’t work out.

I agree the mermaid, two tiered layer option would be nice.

I just bought an underskirt on Amazon for less than $30. It hasnt arrived yet but there are loads of inexpensive options. Get that volume!

rolson91 :  I’m not using a hoop. Just layers of crinoline to give it some stiffness and volume. Some big ball gowns need hoops but I would guess you don’t need one. If I were you I would order a $20 underskirt online, try it on and then decide if you need a hoop. They’re such a pain I would avoid wearing a hoop if possible.
