So, this post really doesn’t have much to do with anything, but I’m a bit annoyed that everyone seems to think they’re ‘helping’ and that our wedding is about them…
Last night, Fiance received a call from his sister (who is already doing my make-up, the centerpieces, and my toss bouquet because she volunteered and I accepted). Well, their mother (FMIL) is helping to pay for the wedding, as is my mother and grandmother, which I really appreciate. However, what Future Sister-In-Law said on the phone struck me as a bit odd.
She said Future Mother-In-Law was giving her (FSIL) money to buy decorations for our wedding. What…? Um, can I not be trusted to choose/buy decorations for my own wedding? WTH? I mean, I was planning on only buying a few things to decorate, but I only had so much to spend and told Future Mother-In-Law this when she asked what I was doing for decor. And I told her what my ideas were, too, because she asked.
Sorry, I guess I just needed to rant… I think the whole thing is just bizarre.

@futuremrsndl: Just tell Future Sister-In-Law that decoations are important to you and you insist on being there! Simple as that

Sounds like they are taking over your planning! That wouldn’t sit well with me at all!
It’s nice if you and Future Mother-In-Law go shopping TOGETHER but not doing it on her own, or having someone else do it.

@futuremrsndl: Quoi? Is she planning to decide how you decorate the wedding, or is the Future Sister-In-Law just writing the checks as you decide which flowers and what not?

I guess if she doing centerpieces maybe that why fmil would have offered her money?
By the way just because she is doing the centerpieces doesn’t mean that she gets to make all the choices for it, and hopefully she knows that. The hard thing when accepting favors and help is you can’t just demand/ask for things the same way you can with a third party vendor. If it’s coming to a point where you are worried about it, hire a vendor or do it yourself, and save yourself a lot of headaches.
