- Wedding: June 2011
This Saturday night, someone broke into my parents’ house (where I still live). They didn’t touch anything but jewelry. That being said, we would have much rather have them take the TVs, computers, or even my wedding dress, which was hanging in plain sight. They took just about all of my late grandma’s jewelry from my mom’s dresser. Everything they took had a lot of sentimental value and my mom is completely crushed.
My mom had offered me a pearl necklace that had been my grandmother’s for me to wear for my wedding as my “something old.” We were debating whether I should wear a necklace at all or not with my dress, since it has a lot of embellishment at the top. That pearl necklace had been on the top of one of my mom’s drawers, which was completely emptied and the jewelry all taken. I thought that the choice had been made for me and that the necklace was gone. However, later that night when my mom was cleaning up, she called me into her room. She found the pearl necklace. It looks like they either thought it was fake (they didn’t take any costume jewelry, but even took my high school class ring) or somehow it just fell and got pushed where they didn’t see it. That necklace is one of only 2 or 3 pieces that were left. Now I feel like I’m meant to wear that necklace.
