- Wedding: December 2009
We used to work together, then I got another job. I tried to keep in touch with her by calling, emailing & texting, but every time we would talk I woud hear something underlying in her voice, apathetic & detached. It seemed like she just didn’t want to talk to me, her heart wasn’t really in the conversation, and for the life of me I couldn’t figure out why. It got to the point where I pretty much stopped trying to keep in touch with her, because our conversations ended up feeling more like rejection than friendship and it really hurt my feelings.
Well, for the past 2 weeks or so, she has been kind of talking to me through facebook & whatnot. I had sent her some pics of the wedding, but never heard back on whether she got them or not, so today I sent her a longish text asking her how she was, etc & if she got the pics. She texted me back a couple hours later (still don’t know why it took so long, but she said she “just” got the text) and she talked openly & friendly to me about her recent life, and even said that we need to get together sometime & do something. I sent her a text back referring to that, when, where, etc, & her response text was a quick “I’m not sure” thing & then change of topic.. I figured she wasn’t really serious so I didn’t bother with it anymore, then we finished texting and that was it. Wasn’t going to worry about it or let it bug me.
Well, she called me about 2 hours ago & was very friendly & sounded like her “old” self from when we worked together & seemed really genuinely happy to talk to me… I don’t quite know what to think about the situation. I am really glad she called because we were pretty good friends for awhile, and she is one of the only people that really “gets” me. We have a LOT of the same personality traits & it is very easy to talk to her about stuff, which is why we hit it off in the first place.. I truly hope she is sincere in wanting to talk to me, and wasn’t just calling because she was bored & her husband was hanging out with his friends & I happened to be the only one who picked up the phone….
