@PinkPandaBear: We went through the same thing! I think a lot of people do so don’t feel bad or overwhelmed. It will all be worth it in the end! We left a lot of stuff to the last minute, but after everything was said and done it all worked out πŸ™‚ In hindsight I may have budgeted a bit better……oops πŸ˜‰

Our 50% reception deposit is due in three weeks, and I’m already freaking out at what is going to be the biggest check I’ve ever written in my life. I’m not sure all the spelled-out numbers are even going to fit on the line.

We all feel your pain!

Darling Husband and I were going to be using my tax return to finish off paying for everything…. with the wedding less than a week away and NO check, I had to take a short term loan from my grandma! And on top of that the apt we were waiting on approval for had costs we weren’t expected so I had to take ANOTHER loan the SAME day from my mom!

Talk about STRESS of taking 1300 dollars in loans in one day and half my return being gone without ever even seeing it!

Thankfully all worked on and in the end we were happy with what we got! hang in there πŸ˜‰

I haven’t gone through this yet, as the largest purchases to date were my dress and the ceremony venue fee, which together were under $750.  Our reception venue only needed $100 down, but the night of we will have that full bill and the band and the bar tab… Eeekk… Maybe if I toast enough I won’t notice how big the checks are that night.

I had a year to plan and save for our wedding and I still got faint when I saw the amount of money that went out the door 2 weeks prior. It was nauseating!!

I feel your pain everytime we make a payment on my dress and our 3 rings… (yes they are so much money we have to make payments- sigh) That $6000 better be worth it.

@PinkPandaBear:  I know exactly what you mean!  We’ll have an engagement of about 4 months and it’s been a challenge.  Especially since we don’t have credit cards.  There were some weeks I was SO stressed things wouldn’t get here or happen because I was unableto do anything wedding related…

but it will all come together!  and be worth it!!!

I’ve just told myself that if I had longer top lan… I’d just find more things to spend money on.

So once the wedding’s over – life and saving can return to normal. And I will have saved myself months of headache and extra spending πŸ™‚

Good luck!
