I had an amniocentesis today at exactly 17 weeks. Im only 27 but both of us have family members who were born with disabilities so we decided to do an amniocentesisln
In the video you will see a white spot in the upper left area, this is the needle entering the womb.
The crazy thing is, the baby first tried to reach it with the left hand, then with the right and close to the end of the video it looks like it’s trying to jump/climp towards the needle… Its crazy! 🙂
It was not as painful as I thought it would be, but i now have to rest for a few days. Im lucky that I dont have to work, so no problem for me.
Here is the video:
It’s only 45 seconds long, so no unnecessary bla bla bla 😉

@SoonToBee2013: What a great video thanks for sharing! That’s an active little baby you have 🙂

@SoonToBee2013: oh my god! I didn’t know babies moved that much in the womb. What did it feel like for you?

@SoonToBee2013: Honestly that freaks me out just a bit. I know that amnios have a risk but the fact that your baby is not only reacting to it but grabbing for it, gah! Hoping your results are perfect. 🙂

Oh my gosh, that was crazy to watch! I hope you get great results!

EEEEEEEEEEK! I would have be scared the baby would jiggle the needle around!

@rustic0820: I’d love to help other expecting ladies 🙂 I didnt watch any videos because I didnt want to see how big the needle is and most videos include a view of the “tools” too. So I thought maybe other ladies might be interested in a short little video from inside 🙂
Yes, seems like the little one wont be a soccer player like his/her daddy, but more likely a basketball player lol! I didnt eat and stayed away from coffee this morning, because I didnt want to hype up the baby. But as you can see, little one still went nuts haha 🙂
@flowercrowns: Believe it or not, I dont feel the baby at all yet! I was shocked after seeing this video, because it looks like the baby might have been poked by the needle and also because I really dont feel the baby at all, even though it’s not thaaaat tiny anymore. And the needle was really not that bad, but I couldnt look at it. Hubby couldnt either lol! After my belly I also got poked in my arms to get some blood samples and it hurt way more than the belly poke.
@Treejewel19: Thank you 🙂 When I first saw this video I nearly started crying and told my Hubby I will kick the Doc’s ass if he poked my baby lol But I guess it looks worse than it was, because the Doc said everyting went fine. And Im lucky, i will get the results in two days.
It seems like we’re having a girl and I wanted a boy sooooo bad 🙁 But we wont know for sure until the results are in and of course Im gonna be happy, as long as the baby is fine.

@SoonToBee2013: OMG, how painful was it? Did they numb you in the area first?
Wow! That is an INCREDIBLE video!
(And I was also pretty bummed out when I found out I was having a girl, and not a boy like I thought! But it went away in about a week)

@SoonToBee2013: Just read your reply – glad to hear it wasn’t that bad! I’m debating whether or not I’ll have an amnio too, although I’m a few years away from having kids. 🙂 Also, if you do have a girl, imagine how cute it would be to watch your husband with her!
By the way, how did you meet your hubs? I lived in Spain for a while wondering if I’d meet a fubolista and never did, LOL. Then I came home to Canada and ended up with an engineer (who’s also a Serb!). 🙂

Oh my goodness this has completely shattered my made-up and completely unfounded thought that babies move like sloths in the womb.
I am less creeped out by the needle and more spooked by the baby’s karate/praying mantis speed and agility!

@SoonToBee2013: amazing, thanks for sharing. I made my Fiance watch too, haha. Good luck of the results 🙂

how cool! my mom said the same thing happend when she had an amnio done with my sister, but it was back in the 80’s and they didn’t have video then like we do now. she said she always wished she could have videotaped it. hope the testing goes well!

@FloridaGatorBride: Thank you! Hope I didnt freak you out lol!
@DaneLady: I know! I nearly cried watching this caus I got pissed at the doc… lol! But everything went fine so I guess it looks worse than it was!
@BrandNewBride: Thanks! I always force hubby to take videos because my doc already forgot a couple times to put the pics and videos on cds… Like I went home with cds, but no files on em… And it always makes me cry and pissed so he now always tapes everything and I thought maybe I can help take the fear of some bees! And Im happy to hear that it only took you a week to “get over” having a girl instead of a boy. I know I will be happy with my little one, but I realllly wanted a boy. Oh well, I had a feeling it will be a girl 🙂
@ChicFoodist: Honestly, I wouldnt have done it if we didnt have a few people with disabilities in our families, I mean both of us! The risk is too high in our eyes, that’s why we decided to test!
I know he will be amazing with our kid, no matter if boy or girl. He always cuddles other people’s babies like their his… lol he just loves kids! All serbians do! But I really wanted a mini version of my hubby! I woulda let his hair grow out just like his daddy, put him in ripped jeans and cool shirts… 🙁 But hopefully I can do all that with the second one! Im just sooo not into pink! I already said to hubby I wont accept any presents from family members that are pink! lol! And definitely no hello kitty crap lol!
haha thats funny! Have you ever been to serbia? I met mine while we both lived in germany, at the famous oktoberfest, which is visited yearly by 1,5 million people (And oktoberfest is only 2-3 weeks!)! lol! So I believe we were totally meant to run into each other! So many things went wrong that day, but they all lead to us meeting. It’s funny 🙂

@SoonToBee2013: Good call. I’d test too, if I were in your situation. 🙂 I can understand wanting a mini version of the husband though! 😀
I’ve never been to Serbia and SO doesn’t want to go, so…boo. 🙁 But I hope to convince him one day.
Good luck on the test results – I’m keeping my fingers crossed for you guys! 🙂
