I just called to schedule a fitting and she told me to make sure I brought all undergarments. I’m definitely wearing panties, maybe a strapless bra, but even that I’m not sure about. I definitely wasn’t planning on wearing shapers or a crinoline slip or anything.
Is it odd to go without undergarments? It was never mentioned to me when I was trying on dresses or when I purchased this one.
It’s a really fitted corset back dress, so it’s not like I need something else to suck me in. The dress does that nicely by itself.
Did anyone else forgo major undergarments under their dress or should I try to find some by Thursday?
ETA: This is me in the sample of my dress, same size as I ordered, without any major shapers

You need to decide specifically which bra you will wear with the dress and then which slip if any. I had a longline bra from sears that gave me more support than a regular bra. My seamstress also sewed in some velcro on the my bra so my dress wouldnt slip down. A crinoline/slip helps give the dress more bounce and shape, ifyou dress looks fine without one then you can just skip it but I think it usually always help to have a crinoline

I just saw the dress and it does look nice on it own.. it would also look nice with an A-line crinoline and that might eliminate the need to have the dress hemmed

Long line bra is the best..oleg cassini makes good ones. Make sure you get one that wont poke you, or that you wont see the seams/design thru your dress Also if you want a slip. I have a ball gown so i had to get a hoop slip.

My dress was also a very fitted/boned strapless A-line, and I wore only underwear and a strapless bra. And I wish I hadn’t even worn the bra, it was structured enough I didn’t really need it.

@mrsjesse: That’s kind of what I’m thinking. My bodice is fully boned as well. Is this uncommon?
@bells: I don’t even know what the dress would look like with a crinoline. I don’t even know where to start looking for one if I need it.
This is really starting to stress me out. I don’t want to show up to the fitting on Thursday with nothing and them think I’m crazy.

I think your dress would look lovely with a small crinoline. If you’re going to have one, you should wait until you get the crinoline to hem the dress. I don’t know if you’re wearing heels in the photo, but if not it looks like you may not even need hemming with heels and crinoline.
Can you maybe hold off on the hem until you decide?
