i’m a shorty too – i have never found a long dress that didnt need to be hemmed – i’ve come to terms with it but i def know the frustration there – jean shopping is a horrible experience for me….regulars can be too long, shorts can be too short. ugh!

I know how you feel.  I have to have most everything tailored, but there is a place in the mall that does hems for $7-12 so it is not that expensive.  I would look around for a tailor in your area, hems are usually really cheap.  Then you will not have this issue again and you can shop on looks alone, LOL.

I hear ya! I try to stay away from long dresses for that reason! and my jeans, I roll the bottoms up! HAHA…

As for dress pants, they are a nightmare. I’ll buy a new pair of dress pants and they’ll sit in my closet for a month before I get around to taking them in to get tailored.

Is it still too long if you shop in the petite section?

I have the opposite of this issue! NOTHING is ever long enough, even like pants labeled “longs” are too short. And I am long wasited so shirts are never long enough. I bet having to get things hemmed  all the time is a pain though!

I don’t mind being short.  I can still ride the Scooby Doo roller coaster at Kings Dominion.  And I have iron-in hem thingys for my pants 🙂

@chasesgirl: Ugh yes. I have to order 36″ inseam jeans online and shirts are always super short and look awkward. I wish I could tailor stuff but you can’t just create more fabric to match!

More stores need to realize every woman isn’t 5’5…there are lots shorter and lots taller out there! We need to buy clothes too!

@bells: I find that a lot of “petite” things don’t actually fit me very well. If they do get the length right, they get everything else wrong…. (I’m 5’0″)

ETA: I know your question wasn’t directed at me, I just wanted to throw my 2 cents in! 🙂

Feel your pain!  I’m 5’2 and fairly leggy…so petite pants are JUST too short.  But naturally, normal pants are too long…sigh.

I have the opposite problem, tons of things are too short. At least you can hem them!

I pretty much only shop at stores with petite collections. I’m not willing to give other stores my money if they don’t have petites.
