Ugh. I hear ya. Speaking as a girl that missed out on New Years Eve with her boyfriend so he could accompany the band to a bowl game FOUR YEARS IN A ROW… yeah. I can sympathize.

I can sympathize also. I’m in WI so we’re going to the Rose Bowl (WOOHOO!) but it makes me glad to not be in the band. I wanted to join but I realized I needed a job and you can’t really have a job while in the band, unless it’s super flexible, which most aren’t. It’s a little frustrating. And bowl games aren’t decided until right about now.

I am just over football this year in general.  With the NFL strike, they have literally been talking about it all year.  They get 5 months, isn’t that freaking enough!?  Should I really have to be subject to it ALL YEAR!?

@tksjewelry: I have to say that I do love football, I’m a lifelong Packer fan so if you follow the NFL even a little you know it’s a good couple years to be a Packer 😉 Plus I get to wear Badger and Packer stuff to work on the weekends during football season, lol.

But I really am a band geek at heart too. So I understand that side.

@chasesgirl:  Dr won’t let him leave right after the game? If your Bridesmaid or Best Man is the guy I think it is, he asked during our business time Monday and Dr O said to speak to him afterwards. I can’t imagine why he wouldn’t be allowed to leave that night (sucky drive but it means he would be there earlier). One of my fluties is outright missing the bowl for her sister’s wedding (the day of the bowl).

What’s the chance he could instead fly from the SA airport to DFW or Love instead of driving? Might be less stressful.

Techinically, we’re told from July when we sign the commitment form to not plan anything over break so we won’t have to drop anything. Weddings are a little different though.

I LOVE football, but I really liked the bracket system that I saw proposed a few weeks ago as the BCS fever was starting to hit.

Everyone loves March Madness and with a few exceptions, the teams that are going to be involved know that they’ll be playing.  If we had a bracket system, I think fans would love it and it would create a little more predictability in the schedule.

@sleepingbeauty88:Those things that both Virginia and Virginia Tech are playing in!  Go Hoos!  🙂

@chasesgirl: I thought he’s part of BUGWB? We’re definitely in San Antonio.

**edit** I realized we started talking about this in the Aggie thread so there might be confusion- I’m not an aggie, I’m part of Baylor’s band, if he’s part of the aggie band yeah they’re in Houston, I’m not sure what their policy is at all.

@chasesgirl: Yeah, we were in the Texas Bowl last year (hopefully this year will go better) Sorry Frown

Will he have a car in SA or is he riding the bus back with us to Waco and then driving from there?
(DH’s parents live in SA so we’ve done that drive a bit, it’s borring but if he takes the toll at night it’s dead so it might be quicker than usual)
