What do you mean, you can’t review your tests?  They don’t give them back to you?  I would complain to the administration of the college.

If you’re going in blind to an exam, and you feel that there is no one who can be your study buddy (though there still may), I would find a professor who could serve as a mentor.

I’m feeling flabbergasted by this policy that you can’t review your own tests. I understand there are difficulties with cheating in any program, but in a nursing program isn’t it critical that you have a strong sense of what you do and don’t know so that you’re prepared to work with patients?

Oh my gosh, I would hate that. That doesn’t even sound like actual teaching. What are you even paying for…?

@cmeeks:  Goodness. I’m in Education, which is one of those fields like yours where teaching ourselves is a BAD idea, as what we’re doing affects people’s lives and we need to learn from professionals. I can’t imagine not being taught what I need to know…

At my college, we had a thing called an Honor Code.  If you were caught cheating, you were expelled.  Well, they had a hearing, but still.

Can you make a formal complaint to someone?

I would complain about not being able to review your tests. Sorry that you’re going through this.

That seems like a really bad system. My sympathies.

@cmeeks:  College has always been a kicker for me as I’m going for education. I HATE how in college, they use the “teaching” methods that we are directly told, over and over again, NOT to use in education. Always make sure you use a variety of methods to test their knowledge, professors pass out two tests throughout the entire semester and that’s your grade. Use a variety of teaching strategies to keep students engaged, professors come in with a powerpoint and talk at you the entire time. Make sure the students get up and move around, not just sit in the same spot all the time, college has LONG blocks where you sit the. entire. time. and get lectured at…SO FRUSTRATING!!!

@cmeeks: Woah, I’m in nursing school right now as well, and the same thing happened to us, only the cheaters were in the year and two above me. No more reviews for us now either, so I totally feel your pain. I wonder how common that is?  Anyways, it will be over soon, and so worth it!
