i had to laugh, cause i know your frustration. it takes me forever to assemble anything from there, but my mother can do anything super quick. it’s not fair. i think it takes a special kind of brain to be able to assemble furniture from there in under 5 hours. even the simplest bookcase is complicated.

the dresser turned out super cute though! i love the pretty knobs (:

Oh man I love love love Ikea, and Hemnes is my favorite line! However, yeah I totally understand where you’re coming from. My ExH and I bought a bedframe and a big bookshelf one weekend years ago and decided to put them together all in one day. We were never ever violent with each other, but I think that Sunday, we came awfully close!

@Jayhawkmama:  Fiance is convinced that IKEA is one of the deepest layers of hell, so you’re not alone! We never have issues assembling stuff, but he hates going in the store because of the way it is designed (you have to walk through the whole thing), and he freaks out because he just wants to get in and get out. I thought he was going to dive over an octogenarian last time we were there, because the walkways are slim and she was moving slowly.

@Jayhawkmama:  lol I have the Hemnes beedroom set.  Actually my whole Apt. is an IKEA showroom!  When we moved we just got EVERYTHING there.  Darling Husband became awesome at building the stuff.  I think he said that the first hemnes chest of drawers was the worst but after doing one the other and the 2 nightstands were super easy.

@gingerkitten:

@Jayhawkmama:

Well you don’t have do walk through all of it, there are shortcuts and you can skip the entire 2nd floor.

The worst is when you’re looking for somehting in the marketplace and you can’t find it so you ask and they say it is in the showroom! Now that pisses me off becasue if it is in the showroom it should be in the marketplace!

I love the Hemnes line…but I do totally agree that IKEA is a marriage tester. It can be such a pain in the arse!!

I love Ikea and we’ve never had any trouble assembling anything!  I guess I’m lucky,  idk, haha. We actually take a trip every year after  Christmas with all our gift cards and its probably one of my favorite things ever!
