@harleyq:  I am right there with you. I completely feel your pain.

I’ve been looking for work since mid-October. At first I felt good about the interviews and positive about my prospects.

However, I just had an interview today and I felt like my brain went to mush during it. For some reason my articulation was just gone.

It was also a very intense interview process. I had an hour to examine a case study, 10 minutes to present it, then 20 min for me to be questioned on my presentation. After that I had an hour long interview where multiple people were interviewing me at the same time.

I am shattered today.

Already heard that I didn’t get the job (even though they really liked my presentation) so it’s back to the drawing board with new interviews.

I know it’s “my turn” to have trouble finding work, I found my first 2 jobs out of college fairly easily, but this is just hard and a bit ego-crushing.

Hey there, I’ve been there and I totally feel you!  It’s totally ok to feel the way you do… trust me… I had pity parties for myself all the time.  Just keep trying:)  It took me 1.5 years out of school and countless [nervous] interviews/rejections/no-callbacks before finally landing something.  And then when I started, I was low [wo]man on the totem pole, but you’ll be so proud of yourself when you get to where you’re looking to go.

Good luck!

Seriously we should start a job’s thread like the ttc threads where we can all share our interviews, fails, and potential leads and support one another until we graduate to the next level. I know there are a ton of people looking for work lol

I hear ya! Its tough! I feel like I’m clawing at the doorstep of a business with 120 other people. One wrong move and your done.

@Eva Peron:  That is a great idea. We really should have a “Bees seeeking employment” update thread of sorts. It’d be nice to know that we aren’t alone in what we are dealing with.

@KatNYC2011:  Yes! I’d love to get to know the other Bee’s education/experience background, what type of work they are seeking, where they are looking etc

I wonder if It could be made like a sticky in the careers section?

Oof, tell me about. Nearly 65 applications and resumes sent and not a peep. Well, I did get one interview but they never responded to my follow-ups. I have 4 different tailored resumes. I’ve been unemployed since mid-November and it’s killing me. I know what to do and am doing it all the time but it just… doesn’t seem to make a difference. I am highly professional, have tons of experience and/or pretend I have less than what I do so I don’t get the dreaded “over-qualified” responses again, well put-together… I just don’t get it!

About a month ago, I started looking at *anything* paying more than what I get on unemployment. I’ve applied for production jobs, bus driver jobs, 3rd shift cleaning crew jobs, etc. I’ve nearly exhausted all resources and my unemployment runs out in 4 weeks (including this week) and I’m very frightened…

I keep telling myself there’s a purpose to this time in my life but my quickly dwindling bank account seems to think otherwise. 🙁

@Diet Coke:  Oh goodness! I am routing for you! It really is a horrible horrible time to be in need of work. I have tried to apply even for the menial 3rd shift type work that needs a highschool diploma and people don’t even breathe back towards your direction.

Could you do any nannying, infant care or elder care stuff like found on craigslist or care.com/sittercity.com ? I have found there seems to be stuff floating around in under the table type work but of-course its not guaranteed to be steady or give any benefits 🙁

@Eva Peron:  I second nannying (if you like children).  It was a great interim job.

@Eva Peron:  I flagged your post and asked and got a message that if we create a new thread and flag it, that it can probably be sticky-ed.

It also was suggested by a very smart hostess that we also maybe open it up to be both a way to check up on bees looking for work, but also to currently employed bees who might have good thoughts on potential work options, networking, etc.

@Mrs.Argentina and @KatNYC2011: That really is a great idea to start a board for bees seeking employment. I too have been looking for a job. I relocated with the Fiance and left the job I had always thought I would be at forever. Now, I am trying to figure out what to do. I feel like I have to really ponder the next path I take, since in the near future we plan on having children.

@harleyq: I know you weren’t asking for advice, but just want to say – hang in there! You’ll have good days and bad days, but you gotta try and make the best of the situation and stay positive. Don’t think you are a bum because you are trying. This is a very tough time for anyone trying to find employment. And as you can see from the PP, you aren’t the only one! 🙂

I hateee this process too… I hate that we have a culture of so many rich people that are rich for no reason at all like taking pictures and then here we are looking for a job paying above the minimun wage… sorry had to vent this am..makes me angry

@bridalblush:  I’m a bit confused by your comment about people being rich for no reason except taking a few pictures. Are you talking about successful photographers/artists?

Because I don’t think people like Annie Leibovitz is “rich for no reason” her photographs are truly iconic.

My unemployment has run out. I was working part time during the winter but now Im on a race to find new work. Fiance is about to loose his winter job and a major car repair meens our savings are gone. We have a wedding in 4 months and Im kinda freaking out. Im doing a follow up on a resume at a spa today and then applying for retail jobs. With all this we need to order our bands in the next week. I use to be on meds but it made my relationship suffer so much. I really dont know what to do anymore.
