Ok, I admit it- I hate my dress. I don’t just feel sort of neutral towards it. I HATE it.
I bought it a month ago- off the rack, super cheap. I didn’t exactly LOVE it back then, but I was tired of trying on dresses, and settled for this one. My Future Mother-In-Law said it was great, so I bought it. I had some doubts- but figured that I was just over reacting, it was just a dress and that I shouldn’t worry about it. Then, I saw some other brides here on weddingbee who wore my dress for their weddings, and they looked fantastic! So I was feeling better about it.
Alas, I tried it on yesterday and couldn’t stop frowning. I was trying to figure out how much of the dress I could cover up by wearing my hair down, lol! Looking at pictures later, I was slumping the entire time I was wearing it without realizing it… I just wanted to take it off, stuff it back in it’s bag & never have to look at it again.
I don’t want that to be the overall “look” that stares back at me from our wedding pictures!
So, maybe I am going to become a two-dress-bride.
This dress was very inexpensive… it’s not like I bought a super expensive dress and am now throwing it away. And, we’re running about $1500 under the wedding budget anyway… but still. It’s a rough economy out there for all of us…
Should I waste money on a second dress when I’ve got a perfectly good one sitting in my closet that I just don’t really WANT to wear? 🙁

If you really hate it…you’ve definitely got time to get a new one, and try to sell the hated dress 🙂 Don’t feel guilty!!

If you really hate it, you need to sell it and move on. I can’t imagine wearing something you hate on the most important day of your life! Don’t feel guilty about making a mistake about a piece of clothing. Any other piece of clothing you change your mind over, you’d return to the store, right? Too bad they don’t let you return wedding dresses! Actually, you might check with the store and see if they would let you choose another dress. I saw a bride do that on Say Yes to the Dress once. Couldn’t hurt to ask!

Heh, with all the dress remorse I’ve seen on here, I’m sure bridal shops would have a HUGE return rate if they allowed returns! 😛
I was planning on selling the dress after the wedding anyway- maybe I’ll keep it until after the wedding, then sell both of them.
Hmmmm….. This would be a pretty good way to shock the socks off my Fiance, since he’s already seen pictures of a model in the dress I bought, and is expecting that dress!
Thanks for the feedback!

I did the exact same thing!! I got so fed up with dress shopping, that I just bought one because my mom and bridesmaids liked it. I got it home, and almost instantly regretted it. I hate to say this, especially if you don’t want to spend more money, but that dress is going to BOTHER you in wedding pictures if you don’t love it.
I ended up selling my old one pretty quickly on http://www.oncewed.com, but I posted it EVERYWHERE haha.
