You may regret posting this as it seems we are all going to give you different answers.

I would make to simple changes:

Narrow the sleeves by gathering or even pleating them at the shoulder seam. I don’t know if you are one of those women with “arm issues” but I think the wider cap sleeves are not flattering to many women.

It’s hard to see the details on the front of the dress, but if it would work, I might add a rhinestone brooch at the center of the empire waist.

I definitely think that alterations will make you love it!  I would definitely make those sleeves a little narrower and add a blingy belt to make it pop more.  It definitely needs something “extra” to make it stand out.  I think with the proper jewelry and the proper alterations you will love it!

I agree with everyone saying you should open the front more not close it. The back is already closed it will look matronly and not be flattering. Opening it up is also elongating will make you look thinner and will be easier than trying to find lace to match or something to close it- I don’t even know if that’s a possible alteration you could do honestly.

I don’t see the problem with it, you look great! I wish I knew what exactly about the front you don’t like anymore! I wouldn’t add the lace if I were you, but you have to do what would make you feel the best!

I think you should keep it and then alter it to your liking.

Here’s what I’d consider:

Maybe converting the neckline to thinner straps in the front

Add a petticoat($14 on ebay – don’t buy from davids bridal, it will cost you like $150!)

Maybe dress it up with a gorgeous belt! (Try on at DB; buy off ebay or something!)

You have a great eye and you look beautiful in your dressl. I like all the suggestions other bees have given and your inspiration photo with the more open chest.  I would also lean on your visit with your local seamstress.  They are visionaries and they know how to work a great silhouette and how to accent and dramatize your best assets.  I would rely on their expertise as they know the how to work the fabric to your body.  Be sure to wear your wedding day under garments for your appointment and I’m sure your seamstress will take good care of you.

whitneyfl:  Yes, that picture is what I had in mind! A deeper plunge will flatter your chest more. In the original picture you have too much boob squished in which makes you look unnecessarily frumpy. I think with a good lifting bra and a few alterations and your dress will look perfect on your lovely figure.

whitneyfl:  if your dress hasn’t been altered and you truly hate it, davids will let you exchange it for the same price or higher.
