It’s going to look gorgeous with the ivory on ivory and once it’s really well fitted to you. Decision is made so just move on. You’re going to look stunning.

lavenderlace:  I think it’s beautiful! You look curvaceous, like a bombshell princess, lol. I don’t think it looks gaudy at all.

The fact it means so much to you to make your Mom happy tells me what kind of person you are. I wouldn’t rule out a second reception dress. You could find something more your style that doesn’t cost a fortune(check out Pin up girl clothing, DB, Mod cloth). I think a ball gown would be daunting to wear the whole time.

I don’t like to fuel dress regret but I have to be honest I work in bridal and one of the saddest things I see too often is brides buying dresses for other people and not themselves. It’s your wedding day, and ideally you only get one. If this is going to bother you so much you can’t enjoy your wedding day you might want to consider selling your current dress and looking for a new one YOU love, and not someone else. We can all tell you look gorgeous (which you do) but it doesn’t matter because we are not the ones wearing it.

If you are ok staying with this dress then I think you need to step away from it for a while and focus on other aspects of the wedding. Then maybe when you come back to it you will feel differently.

I think some cap sleeves would be cute!

Is it possible to alter it in a way to remove some of the ballgown fluff? You might find you like it with a simpler A-line skirt.

Personally I would hate to look back on my wedding and think, “why was I wearing a dress I hated?” I think you should consider selling it online and getting a dress you actually do love. Going dress shopping alone was much less stressful for me than having all sorts of differing opinions.

You are the one wearing the dress and I think you should love it.

If you find it to be too poofy for your taste (since you didn’t want to go with a ballgown in the first place) maybe you can get some of the crinolin taken out and it will sit more like an a-line and if you add the corset back or just get it altered to bring in your waist and boost your bust I think it’ll be amazing!

lavenderlace:  personally, I think it’s really pretty! I think it will look even nicer in the ivory and once it’s in your size.

The chest area could use some more emphasis, so maybe a corset would help if it doesn’t do that already when it’s in your size.

Try to find some really amazing accessories, and maybe that will help you fall in love with the overall look.

I think the dress is beautiful and looks great on you but you have to be happy with it because it’s *your* dress. +1 to the people who suggested having volume taken out of the skirt and adding a corset to change the silouette.  Hopefully with some minor alterations you can please both yourself and your Mom without the expense of changing everything.

llussier:  may i ask…in your experience do you think certain shapes suit certain dress styles?  i’ve not started looking yet but I’m wondering if I should look for a certain style or try everything on?

lavenderlace:  back to you and your thread!….I think the whiter colours will make it very magical.  I can see whats been said about cinching in your waist and hoiking your boobs…I think it could look very dreamy.  I really hope you’ll get the changes and add your accessories and fall in love with it.  I really do!  Will you let us know?

I plus one the idea of finding a reception dress.  That gown, while beautiful, will be daunting to wear the entire day.  Go and find a reception dress you love and then you will have made yourself happy while keeping your mother happy!!
