@SupermarketGirl:  I hate the word “bling” and wish it would go away.

I also hate super sparkly stuff as well. Will be glad when the trend fades away. Makes me cringe as well when I see women my age wanting to resemble a damn Disney character on their wedding day.

I’ve yet to get my engagement ring, but when I do I hope it’s white gold, a solitary diamond on a fine band.

Im not having a tiara, the only sparkle I’ll have is on the hip of my dress. I hate those massive skirted ball gown Cinderella style dresses, always have. But what I cringe at the most is the girl almost always arrives in a see through pumpkin type horse drawn carriage. That is just so trashy and your right it’s what a five year old would dream of, not a 25/ 35/ 45 year old.

@SupermarketGirl:  “Hate” is such an ugly word. Instead of bashing this style of wedding, why not start a topic encouraging women who prefer the style of wedding you like to post their pictures or ideas? What good will this topic do to anyone other than hurt many people’s feelings? You might not like the look of women appearing to be “5 year-olds.” But I’m sorry, this post makes you come off as one yourself.

The op was not being rude to anyone in particular and everyone I’m sure hates something, lighten up! I saw a post the other day saying how much the poster hated vintage weddings. I’m having vintage cars at mine and I don’t find that offensive in the slightest. What’s offensive is if the poster personally attacks someone, which has not happened. I wouldn’t dream of coming on here and leaving an insult on say someone else’s wedding picture thread and neither I’m sure would the OP. This is a board for all sorts of discussions about weddings is it not?

I don’t totally get these “hate” threads.  And someone hated on damask which I’m having at my wedding and I’m not gonna lie…it stung.

But in this case, I love sparkles…love love love.  I’m not a princess type at all though.  But I totally agree…the word BLING<<<HATE 🙂

Let’s focus on positive, shall we?

Sparkles= make some people FEEL like a princess.

Jackie Kennedy-esque= makes you FEEL regal.

It’s all good 🙂

@Irish-bride:  That board was closed for being negative and against the Terms of Service. It is against the terms to post anything that criticizes anothers choices, and by the OP posting that she hates sparkly, princessy weddings, that is criticizing people who are having sparkly, princessy weddings.

The whole idea is we are not here to make others second guess their choices, but to give them support in what they do.

@Irish-bride:  I know people hate things, and there’s no pleasing everyone with your wedding. But what exactly does this topic, and the other “hate” topics like it lately, help to accomplish again? Look, I’m not a pretty pretty princess type myself. Always been a tomboy growing up. Never played with Barbies. Wouldn’t be caught dead in Disney. I have a plain solitaire. But I feel bad for all the women who do like it who come on here and see pointless bashing like this. You don’t have to put down other people’s preferences to justify your own. Period. This thread (and all the others like it lately) are just not in the spirit of the bee at all.

I’m not a fan of the whole princess thing, mostly Tiara’s. I think sparklers are beautiful in pics and not one wedding I’ve been to that had them would I put in the catagory as princess or fairytale type. But what others want at their wedding doesn’t bother me at all. If every girl had the same taste and style as you then how boring would that make all weddings?

I like a little bit of sparkle, so I picked a dress with some on the bust. I’ve seen dresses with the bodice covered in sparkles and although it’s not to my taste I’ve never seen a bride wearing a dress like that who DIDN’T look beautiful:)

I’m not a huge fan of tiaras either so I wont be wearing one, but I do think they look lovely when the hair is tied up, it’s just not ‘me’. I plan on getting extensions and wearing a simple ivory headband with my hair down. Some people might think it’s boring but that’s ok!

Oh and my dress is an a-line which I’m going to ‘poof’ out a bit with a petticoat, not too much though. I guess I like a LITTLE bit of everything!

It all boils down to personal taste:):)
