I love my straight, fine hair down when I’ve put some curl in it, but in the winter it just gets so staticky that it’s much easier to wear it up. That’s normally what I do, and it has the added bonus of preventing the rat’s nest underneath at the nape of my neck where my hair rubs up against my turtlenecks. I wear my hair down a lot more in the summer when the humidity makes a little wave in it and it looks better.

+1… Me too! Will def need to have it down for the wedding. I wish I feel like I could pull it off “up”, but unfortunately only wear it that way to work out or sleep.

I literally NEVER wear my hair down. Fiance actually comments when I straighten it (the once every 4 months I happen to) on how long it is. Like, nobody knows how long my hair is because it is ALWAYS in some kind of side braid or a bun.
I would cut my hair, but I have a phobia of getting it cut from so many bad hair cuts :/ I need it chopped off though because I can’t even lay in bed with Fiance without screaming that he is on my hair like every night. Not fun.

My hair is actually only a little bit longer than collarbone length, but it is very thick and I hate it in my face! I would buzz cut it if I didn’t care 😛

I am so, so, so horribly self-conscious about wearing my hair up. I have this thing on the back of my neck called a dowager’s hump. Most people tell me they don’t notice it, but I feel like they are lying. It’s hideous and makes my neck and back hurt all the time. My doctor told me it was posture, but given that I was a figure skater and dancer, I highly doubt that my posture is the issue. There’s no way I can stand that makes it go away. So I wear my hair down.

@Evanstobe: I love having super long hair and the way it looks down BUT I notice I throw it in a bun on my head or braid it like every 15 minutes without really noticing what I am doing and then when I finally realize I will take it out and then the cycle repeats haha It just gets all up in my face ya know!
ETA I have really nice natural loose curls so my hair looks bangin down and like a hot frizzy mess up- and I still put it up mostly which is why I always try and take it down when I notice haha

I got so annoyed with my hair that I actually cut it off in to a pixie cut. I’m now allowing it to grow back out, it’s to the top of my shoulders now.. But I still wear it back in a ponytail more often than not. It’s just easier and I don’t have to worry about it still looking ok. Even when I have it long like I want, I will probably throw it back in ponytails and buns.

I agree with you. Sometimes when my hair is down I feel fatter and just gross. It’s hard to explain!! But you are definitely not crazy!

Yeah I have very very thick hair I guess I look at this way. If it is bothering me I either put it up or get it cut.

I’ve been wearing my hair up more lately because it’s getting long, but I mix it up.

It’s funny because up until about age 14 I wore my hair up every single day and refused to wear it down. Ever since I was about 15 I wear my hair down every single day and refuse to wear it up!

I wear my hair up every day. But its not because I don’t like it down, its because I’d rather get an extra 20 minutes of sleep that style my hair. Its think, frizzy, and curly, and requires an insane amount of product to look good.
The upside is that when I DO wear my hair down, its more of a special/dress up thing

I wear mine up nearly constantly. Even after a hair trim, it gets pulled back into a ponytail within a few days. On rare occasions I’ll try wearing it down, like if we’re going to a family get together or someplace where I’m expected to be social, but I carry a hair tie in case I have to eat. Can’t deal with hair in my face! LOL

I think my face looks better/thinner when my hair is down, by the way.
