So i’ve been going to Curves.
It’s not so bad, even with the working out…
Anyone else hate working out but are trying to tone up a bit before the big day?
What are you doing besides working out to look your best?

I hear ya. I was doing Curves for a long time and it was working well for me. Now I’m doing the 30 Day Shred at home, but I also do a Stott Pilates video and the NYC Ballet Workout video to change things up.
I’ve also changed my eating habits and have been making a serious effort to be healthier. I drink A LOT of water and try not to drink soda unless I have a serious period craving 😉 For a splurge we have sushi, which isn’t so bad for you.
Good luck! It’s hard work!!!

I change my workouts before I get bored with them, so that I will be happy when I start it again.
For example, 3 months of spinning, then 3 months of running, 3 months of outdoor cycling, then swimming as main workout, which I mix with some type of strength training… After 3 months of one sport, I start to feel like it’s a routine so I switch, and after a while, can’t wait for it to start again..
I watch what I eat..

My advice is when you get bored try something else. I went to curves a long time ago and it can definitely get boring after a while! Maybe go for a run when you don’t want to go to the gym or get an at home dvd – I do the 30 Day Shred when I don’t feel like going to my gym!
Also, drinking LOTS of water is good for your body in so many ways!

I have also been lifting 3-lb arm weights in the shower. sounds weird, but i dont get sweaty, and it gives me time to do a deep-conditioning treatment once a week in my hair!

@gurlwithapen: That is a FANTASTIC idea! Wow I like that so much I might try it myself!
About a week about I started this diet:
I love it! The meals are tasty and the workout is…well tough, but very complete. I do the Full Body Workout M and F, then I do an hour of cycling on Sa, Su, and Th. Then on T and Th I do martial arts too. Wednesdays I will try to cycle for an hour, but today I am too sore and might skip it.
So far I’ve lost 3 pounds, and an inch off each thigh, hips, and waist! I am super pumped about it. I will keep the workout going past the 30 days though, but I may up my calories to 1800 so I can maintain my goal weight.

I figured out about a year ago that eating super healthy and working out 5 days a week is how I have to be to stay fit. I can’t really be lax about it.
If I cut out my workouts, I’d have to eat even less, which is hard to do…
I am still trying to lose a few more pounds to get back to an ideal weight for me.. but right now I’m eating about 1500 cals a day and working out for 45 mins – 60 mins 5-6 days a week. I average about 1 lb a week weight loss.
If you don’t HAVE to work out to stay fit, consider yourself LUCKY! Ha.
Personally I just have to keep positive about it. I make it part of my morning routine. It can get old occasionally, but there are things you can do to spice it up. You can buy new workout clothes, tennis shoes, try a new routine or machine, do an outdoor workout, try swimming or a group sport.

hey girl, i am right there with you… and since i’m now working full time and in class at night, i’ve been getting up early to work out – i have to get up at 5:30 am to make it possible! it’s PAINFUL! but it will be worth it in the end, right?!

I hate working out, but I made myself do the Shred. I can handle 20 minutes a day in my own house, you know. And it worked BIG TIME. Think about the pictures! That’s what got me through it on many a day.

I do the Shred, too! The only investment is the DVD ($10 at Target), a mat (also $10 at Target) and some handweights. It’s three 20-minute workouts at different levels of intensity, so you can build up to level 3. I can easily make myself do a 20-minute workout five times a week, and I see results because she works your entire body (strength, cardio and abs) in each level, thus, burning more calories and defining your muscles.
It’s awesome. And Jillian’s just so motivating the way she talks to you during the video. She’s not annoying at all, and just says things like, “I have 400-pound people that can do this, so can you!” So true!

i’m also walking 60 mins a day and doing the jillian michaels 30 day shred.

I don’t mind working out so much, but also trying to tone up and slim down for the wedding… I signed up for the Chicago marathon which is a month and a half before the wedding — even after not losing weight at all when I was training for a half marathon last year, I’m hoping training for a full marathon will kick it in gear!
Right now I’m somewhat following weight watchers, lifting weights twice a week, and training for my second half marathon (which is in a little over a week), so I’ve been running 3-4 times, one of those runs being a long run. Marathon training starts on the 6th, ugh.

Honestly, I don’t think anyone loves working out. I love how I feel when I work out and how I look after working out. But the during part? No way.

Do you like dancing? If so, try Zumba. It’s a latin cardio/dance thing. There are classes everywhere or you can buy some DVDs online. It’s really fun and a great workout. And according to my teacher and another woman in the class you can really lose alot of weight. My teacher used to be a size 11 and she’s itty bitty now.
Another suggestion, if you’ve got Netflix, is to try some of their exercise DVDs. When you get bored just send it back and get something new. They also have stuff available on instant que.

I hate working out, too. 🙁 I definitely don’t need to lose any weight, but I would love to tone up before my fiance & I leave for our cruise, and I just have noooo motivation!
