Have you tried those clear stickers to cover it? I think they are made by Abreva.

inapots :  Are you getting your makeup done by a makeup artist? I have worried about this as well, but have heard that they can work wonders to hide them!

Drink green tea. It isn’t overnight but it heals it quicker

Crap, bee!!! I too get cold sores and this was my worst fear approaching my wedding day a few years back.

Are you able to take Ibuprofen? If so, I take 800mg of ibuprofen for the swelling and inflammation, steep a green tea bag then freeze it for an ice pack. Camouflage with whatever you feel comfortable with but clean it gentky and really well after the festivities. (The no kissing and *ahem* no oral sexy fun times make this a real bummer and I AM SO VERY SORRY this is happening to you!!!!!) I really hope your day goes well, and very best wishes.

That’s a bummer, cold sores are terrible! I had a cold sore when I got my driver’s license photo taken.  Make-up made it better but I can still see it.

Fortunately, a cold sore is easy to edit out of photographs.  I think between makeup cover up, photo editing, and you looking otherwise radiant will help lessen the impact.

Breathe and enjoy your day!

CAN you call a doctor? If so, get a prescription for Valtrex (valcyclovir or acyclovir).  I know the ads are for genital herpes, but I have a prescription for valtrex specififcally for cold sores.

Your doctor can tell you what dosage to take for an emergency (which is different from people taking it daily to prevent). If you can’t get in touch with a doctor, some dentists can also prescribe this. ANy doctors attending your wedding? Call if a favor.

This drug can work wonders and get sweliing down FAST.

Valtrex STAT! It will stop it from getting bigger and won’t hurt anymore. Your dentist can even fill the Prescription if a doctor isn’t handy on a Saturday. I’m sorry, I totally understand the upset!

Oh no those are the worst!!! I am prone to getting them too so for months prior to my wedding I took Lysine supplements. I never got them again until I had to stop because I got pregnant. However, I get them far far far less than I usually do and when I do get them,  I find taking the supplements shortens the time and lessens the severity of It!

I wish you all the best Bee!!

Honestly,  go to Walmart or pharmacy in the vitamin aisle there is a vitamin called L-Lysine…try to find 500mg…take about 1500mg it will help it shrink in 20 min and stop it from hurting…also you can take it daily to prevent cold sores—when you feel yourself get one take the L-Lysine and it will go away but make sure you take at least 1500mg no more than  2000mg…I use to get cold sores but I don’t because of this vitamin.

I get it, it’s a big day and what the hell, why show up to be a pain! I had two massive pimples side by side that were both super deep AND a massive red pimple under my arm (perfect with a sleeveless dress). I went to a spa to have them drained and ended up with bumpy broken skin. My MUA tried her best to cover them but it was me, and my dab, dab, dab set with powder that kept them looking hidden. I nicknamed them Harriet and Friends and kept my BFF on Harriet watch all night. I hope you managed to get it covered and get out and enjoy your special day.

Is your outbreak affecting the skin next to your lip, or is it exclusively on your lip? I get coldsores and had one when I was a bridesmaid in my friend’s wedding last year. (I had to fly abroad, overnight, in the middle of interview season–I felt so bad, but I guess my body was very angry with me!)

The makeup artists used a liquid lip stain and airbrush makeup and it’s literally invisible in pictures. Can’t see it at all.

And I second valtrex and l-lysine. I try to have an emergency does of valtrex on hand for whenever I feel a coldsore coming in. I’ll also take l-lysine when I’m feeling tired or sick, to help prevent a breakout. Taking some once you have an outbreak will also help healing time, though it obviously won’t heal you overnight :\

So sorry bee. I totally feel your pain.

This is why we photoshop is a dream come true. If you have a good photographer they can edit this. And hopefully with some pointers above and a few glasses of champagne you’ll forget about it tonight.
