I regret passing up a venue that would have allowed me to do exactly what you described above ๐Ÿ™‚ I just couldn’t picture it (it was covered in animal heads, and old timey pictures and other nick-nack stuff).

I say do it ๐Ÿ™‚

Sounds like my plan, only our wedding is in Feb so outdoors isn’t going r o work. But I’m still looking for cheap venue where we can self cater, self bartend, and diy almost everything.

That sounds like a pretty sweet plan! I really wanted to just rent a blank space & bring all our own stuff like that but food seemed to be too much of a hassle. Are you doing food at all of just drinks? Good luck finding a nice place!!

I’m getting married at Olin Park in Madison WI. There’s an old park shelter/barn that’s enclosed (which is good incase it rains) It’s such a pretty, quaint barn and it’s only around 700 bucks to rent and has all the tables and chairs. You should check it out if you haven’t seen it. The only catch is there’s a lottery for wedding season in November for the following summer, so you have to take your chances at getting a good date/ a saturday. Sounds like you’re on the right track with planning though! Best of Luck ๐Ÿ™‚

No odea yet. Ideally, either have a friend pass drinks out or hire a bartender who allows cash bar (I know, major faux pas on the ‘bee, but it’s either that or pass the word to byob). Most places require a licensed bartender and/or dont allow cash bar. My brother already threatened to spike the punch bowl and I told him to feel free.

@Waitingbee57:  Not sure if Milwaukee is too far, but the South Shore Pavillion sounds like it may work. Plus it isn’t too expensive and they let you use your own caterer and bartenders, which I think is the hardest thing to find. It’s also really pretty inside.
