They run in my family so I get them. You could try the cream first. I’ve had to use suppositories when just the cream didn’t work. If neither work for a week, see a doctor.

Prep H definitely works.  There are suppositories too.  Formerly pregnant Bee here and those puppies hurt like hell, poor you!

If you don’t get relief from the Prep H your doctor can give you something stronger.  But try that first, it usually works.

No need to be embarrassed, almost everyone gets them at one time or other.  Women anyway.  🙂

Yes, also signed up with another account to give you this info. First, yes it works. Secondly, another pain relief method is witch hazel. Heat a small amount in the microwave to as hot as you can take it. Put it on a maxi pad and sit on it. Obviously wait for it to cool just a bit to what you can take- it feels better the hotter it is. Or, take bath the hottest you can take- witch hazel I believe soothes and helps shrinks. Drink lots of water well, keep hydrated.

I’ve had hemmeroid surgery, so I know your case isn’t as extreme as mine, but the prep h and witch hazel did work for me until I had to have surgery. And, yes, there is a medical foam I believe that you can get prescribed. I got it but never used it. It also was a $20 copay, so be aware it falls into a different category most likely. I hope you feel better soon!

Eta- with the suppositories, get the brand name, make sure you melt the crease down with your fingers when you first open it up so it doesn’t hurt, and in my case, take a bath first, it loosens up the muscles to help it go in easier. They really help much more than the cream I found.

lol, sometimes life is a real pain in the butt (literally)

Sorry, bad joke… just couldn’t resist

Embarrassing for sure, but I think most women have had them at some point in their lives (just a matter of time)… certainly common in pregnancy.

Good info here from @Sunfire:

Hope this helps,

I made a secret account for this too. I, too, just got one, and was wondering if any of you have internal ones. The doctor had to (TMI) stick a camera up there a little way and saw them. I had the suppositories, and they helped, but I can’t take them forever. And since they’re internal, no witch hazel…Do these things go away, or do you just get used to them?

Question – why are we making secret accounts for this thread?  I didn’t get the memo about that, lol.

@Sunfire:  Sorry… I already have one (25 years old)  but a c-section…. I guess that makes a difference?

Ok, now we are going into the Too Much Information zone… but @happyface did ask… Embarassed

Sorry… I already have one (a baby)… but a c-section… I guess that makes a difference?

Hemorrhoids can be caused by “pressure”… so many women do get them when pregnant… either by the weight of the baby pressing against their pelvis / intestines, or by the pushing action required during childbirth.

Constipation is another cause (especially in older adults as our internal organs begin to slow down).  OR as a pregnant lady, that too can be a cause… as I said these nasty things are very common for pregnant women

We now return you to regular programming… Wink

@This Time Round:  Okie dokies… I am glad I didn’t have the “pleasure” of getting any… LOLCool

But I do feel bad for some who did, does and will do… Must hurt like the dickens!

Can I just share this ridiculous story with you all?

My Fiance and I were on vacation last winter with Future Mother-In-Law.  Around 3:00 in the morning the first night there she started shaking him trying to wake him up.  She sounded a little frantic.  We both ended up waking up.  Fiance asked her what was wrong and she said, very sersiously, “I think I blew out my butthole!!!  I need you to take me to the store!”

I felt terrible but we both just bursted out laughing.  She was in so much pain but she worded is so terribly!

The good news, preperation H helped her immensely.

Good luck!
