I love the Justin Alexander without the jacket! It looks so different (and much better) strapless. I bet it’d look amazing on you and it has waist detailing to draw attention to your figure even with the fuller bottom.

I don’t understand ? Which dress did you buy? And why did you go and try on more dresses after you bought it?

@Miss Leopard:  Can we see the one you purchased? Maybe you are being too harsh on it?? I know we are a bunch of strangers, but I know I’ve been super thankful to Wedding Bee for helping me through my ridiculousness!!!

@Miss Leopard:  I lost 123lbs over the past 2 years and I have a fuller, almost ball gown style dress and I tried on some mermaids. My point is that your weight loss can still be showcased in a different silhouette.

IMO, none of the other dresses compared to the Reem Acra. However, do you have any more recent pics of you in mermaid style dresses?

The biggest problem I have is dress regret as well!! #1 I bought a dress off ebay that really is nice and all but after it got here I was not liking the neckline. Everything fit nicely except that it was obvious that the previous owner was smaller chested than I am and so I was popping out everywhere on top. Because of the cut/straps the seamtress said she could add a modesty fabric but it might not look great. We viewed options and I knew deep down I was going to go with another dress. I was lucky this dress was only 150 dollars so I was hurting to bad in the budget area. I had a 1600 dollar budget pre-alterations.

I ended up getting another dress which is this one . . .

And I was so in love at the store. Nothing could compare. I was just beaming. Then I got home and looked at the pictures and was not satisfied at all. I didn’t like them in the pictures but I had already paid $1100 for this one. I had to note that #1. The dress had not been altered yet #2. It was taken with a camera phone and #3. Everyone else loved it on me.

So, one piece of advice. If you find a dress soon while shopping and you love it when it is on you in person, you love it when you buy it, DON’T look at other dresses!!! I am having such a hard time thinking I made the wrong choice. I think there are just too many dresses out there. And I thought I was going to go with an A-Line with straps and I ended up with a Strapless Fit and Flare gown so also throw out pre-conceived notions that you may have and try on a few dresses in each style because you never know what may look perfect on you!!

@Miss Leopard:  I tried on that Justin Alexander gown (9552 I think was the style number) and I almost bought it. I didn’t in the end bc I changed from a winter wedding to summer and it was too heavy. I think you should try it on. It will definitely showcase your smaller waist. I am an 8/10 to give you an idea.

Are sample sales an option? Don’t know if you’re near NY but here is a sale (on Sunday) that includes Reem Acra:

If you’re near any big city, I bet you could find something similar in the next few months. I bought my dress at a sample sale and it was actually kind of fun, plus I saved 70% off my unattainable dream dress!*

*well, fun if you are very decisive and don’t mind a roomful of brides/moms seeing you in your underwear.

Have you checked into any of the Alfred Angelo Disney Fairytale dresses? They should be in your budget and are really pretty. Style 216 is a beautiful trumpet dress and style 224 could be great on you as well.
