@sparky263:  you might not want to hear this, but you need to….there are federal guidelines about the acceptable number of spiders allowable in fruit and vegetable shipments, because its an unavoidable thing AND the average person consumes 8 spiders a year, either by sleeping, eating or drinking them….however, if you’ve gotten fruit or vegetables that have in fact been consumed by insects, that warrants taking them back to the store for a return and subsequent contact with the supplier as they may have an infestation that needs attention.

@sparky263:  …hey, it happens…you’ve gotten this far in life without an incident, so maybe it was one of those things, but it never hurts to keep an eye out, after all, the farmers that grow that produce could be dealing with some sort of problem and don’t even know it.

WHAT IS WRONG WITH YOU PEOPLE?!  Acting like spiders in fruit is TOTALLY NORMAL AND OK?!

OMG, I would have tossed the whole bag, puked and then called the grocery store and cried. Maybe I’m just a big baby.

Fruit grows outside and spiders eat other nasty little bugs- like mosquitos! I’d much rather have the occasional spider on my fruit than pesticides. I understand that spiders can be scary though!

@Nona99:  Oh yes you are correct! In fact, there’s an entire FDA “Defect Handbook” on how many disguting things are allowed in your food.

Rodent hairs? You can have one per 100 grams of chocolate!

Insect parts? There can be up to 60 aphid parts per 100 grams of frozen broccoli!

How about mold? 3% of canned peaches can be wormy and/or moldy!

Not making this sh*t up… here’s the link! I don’t even like to think about it!!!

So yeah a few dead spiders in your grapes? No biggie!

I found a moth (still alive) in my packaged spinach leaves. So cute! I love moths.

I freed the moth, washed my spinach, and ate my greens.
