Can you just add healthier food to the list?  If you’re paying for the food, why can’t you add some food in there that you guys want to eat?  Just because you buy food for the house doesn’t mean that you shouldn’t get a say in what the food is.

If you’re paying anyways, just add in some healthier options too. The kids don’t have to eat the same thing as you…and besides, you may be surprised. My FI’s 3 1/2 year old LOVES tilapia and quinoa…

@MrsGorsuch2013:  Oh, that sounds like a sucky situation! Your aunt sounds like she has some bad habits and is unaware of what food to buy. However, because she’s on government assistance, she probably doesn’t have much leeway and thinks she has to buy the cheapest food; which is usally processed, full of artificial ingredients and high in sigar iand fat. It’s a vicious cycle. I would say do all you can to get out of the situation because you aunt is probably doing what she can with what she has!
