I was so excited today . . . just before leaving work, I looked in the mail box and found that my shipment from Vistaprint had arrived! I sprung for 14 day shipping. I placed the order late last Thursday night and by the time I arrived at work on Friday, my oversized postcards and envelopes had shipped! They came via FexEx Smart Post. The original projected arrival date was the 19th and it was updated to the 17th today. So, imagine my surprise when these arrived.
The design was based on a design that I got playing around on Worlde. It didn’t give us exactly what we wanted. So, Fiance imported the Wordle PDF into Illustrator (since I decided we should take a CS4 class @ the local community college for wedding related projects) and made some changes (like adding a few words that I forgot, such as “love” and “friends & family”). Then I got out the Pantones and changed the colors to the colors we preferred. Then, for the back, I used one of the standard Vistaprint postcard formats.
We’re probably going to use a variation of this as our logo. Now I need him to put something up on our website so when the guests get these, they can actually see something on a website.
I was originally just going to send these out as postcards, but decided to keep them nicer, I’d use envelopes. Plus, since they’re oversized, the postage would be the same as for a letter.
One thing I’d do differently next time: I’d count the number of actual items I need before ordering. I assumed 100 would be more than enough. When I finally went through my list, I discovered I needed exactly 99, leaving exactly ONE for me!
