Ok so here’s the story. I had this florist /rental/wedding everything guy do an example room for me of what his vision was for my wedding based on pictures and what I told him I love.
So we get there, and I’m like, oh this is amazing, but I love chivari chairs. These are all covered.
He goes "here wanna see a Chivari chair?" and rips off the cover and is like "HERE here is a chivari chair."
He had a fit that I liked chivari chairs. Apparently he thinks they’re disgusting. Lol.
I’m just confused. I’ve been to two weddings in my life and I don’t recall what chairs I sat in so I know nothing about chairs or chair covers. Why did he freak out? Lol. It caught me by surprise.
I really love the pic in the ballroom, those are just chivari chairs, right? I mean, are there different kinds/quality of chivari chairs or are they all the same?

I love the look of Chivaris. But well, some people it’s probably not their style. I think if you like & can afford them, then go with them.
It’s so funny really that we actually stress about how our chairs will look, because do I remember what the chairs looked like at any wedding I’ve attended…um…No! lol
However, I am a bit biased, I spent too many years in the hotel business, setting up ballrooms for wedding receptions, and thinking…ugh…why didn’t they at least get chair covers….ahhh….I’m a dang chair snob.

I think they are gorgeous too. But yes, there are different levels of quality. I looked at a venue that had gold chiavari chairs that looked like they wouldn’t support my 8 year-old niece, let alone any heftier guests.
Yesterday, I went to a luncheon that had chiavari chairs, but with a criss-cross pattern on the back that was really uncomfortable to lean against.
And of course, there is the whole padded seat, no padded seat issue. I would definitely ask to see a sample of whatever chairs you are renting or are included with your venue.

Maybe he just wants you to have chair covers over your chiavaris so he can make the commission off that as well… 🙂

I was going to say the same thing about the commission. Or maybe the color of the chairs doesn’t go with your color scheme? I think chivaris are nice. If you want them tell him to deal.

That is weird. I’ve never heard of anyone thinking chivaris are somehow less nice – usually the gripe is they’re nice but too expensive! I agree about the commission!

I like those chairs too, and to be honest, he needs to STFU!! It’s your wedding, it should be how you want it. It’s not like you were asking for your guests to sit on bean bags. If it were me, I’d fire his ass in less than 2 seconds flat. Then again I don’t like people second guessing my opinions or being rude like that. Not everyone can be that blatently straightforeward with a person, lol. I’m the type of person who doesn’t put up with crap, and if someone’s gonna offend me, they will get a piece of my mind!
The place I’m having my wedding at doesn’t have chivari chairs as an option, they have covered chairs (at no extra cost to me) so I’m just doing those!
