Prettysmile40:  Its your wedding, you can do whatever you want! All my bouquets are matching between myself and my bridesmaids, but thats because I have OCD.

Prettysmile40:  I would think any flowers that are naturally in bloom at that time would be perfectly appropriate. Ex: Sunflowers in April look odd. Lily of the Valley in November might seem a bit off. Red roses are plentiful in June so I don’t see any reason they’d be inappropriate. Your sister’s bouquet doesn’t have to match.

Prettysmile40:  Roses are always a safe bet for bouquets!

I decided to go with a colored bouquet for myself and white bouquets for the girls.

I wanted the bouquets to pop against the dresses and felt that this was the best way.

We all had similar flowers (roses, calla lily, etc)

As long as it complements the colors and theme of the rest of your wedding, then go for it! I don’t think a bride’s vision needs to be swayed by season.

If you want red roses have red roses. There is no rule saying that you need summer colors for summer wedding or that the Maid/Matron of Honor needs to match. Your wedding represent who you and your Fiance are not what the guest think is right.

Bah it’s your wedding.

I don’t see why it matters what flowers are in season at all.  If those are the flowers you want go for them.  It’s absolutely silly to say that a certain season dictates your flowers. If it did winter weddings would only have ice.

As for your colour scheme, again who cares. It’s a frigging bouquet that you love. Is a red rose bouquet really going to mess up a colour scheme?  So it may not match your brides maids dresses…oh well. Don’t ever give up what you’ve always wanted (especially something as simple as flowers) just because of some silly ideas.

koi424:  My thoughts exactly!

My hairdresser was recently married, and she had a beautiful boquet of red roses with some red orchids mixed in. I don’t know the exact type of orchid they were, but it was beautiful!!

Prettysmile40:  In my opinion, red roses are the only flowers that can be used year round.

Prettysmile40: I had red roses For a June wedding. I went for the Naomi type (Google it) as I love the shape and prefer them to the narrower type.
