I love love love my ring. Thing is, I feel a little unsafe wearing it out in NYC a lot of the time.
Thinking about getting myself a simple band or wearing other rings on my ring finger instead of my actual ring. Anyone ever done this?

I have many different marital bling choices. I might bling it up at a country club or tone it down when downtown. It just depends.

I just flip my diamond around to the underside when I’m in dicey NYC neighborhoods. In general… There are a ton of big ass rings around the city so I don’t sweat it in good neighborhoods at all. Less people notice than you think.
But no I don’t think this is strange at all, and hey more rings the merrier.

I don’t think it’s weird. I have a “stand in” plain ring that I wear at some of the sites I go for work, due to not wanting to get my ring dirty or because there are restrictions on what jewelry can be worn as a safety precaution.

I have several rings that work as stand-ins when I’m traveling, or if I just want to mix it up. I love my diamond, but sometimes a moissy or colored gemstone is fun. My husband doesn’t mind at all.

Oh, and I wear a plain 4mm band at work.

I look at it this way… If you’re going to get mugged, chances are, the robber isn’t going to stop it to inspect if it’s a diamond or not. They will still hit you, stab you, or likely injure you in some way while trying to get your stand in off, and it won’t matter in that moment if it’s a CZ or moissy or not. They will still see a big rock and mug you anyway. This happened to one of my mom’s friends. So, even a stand in doesn’t guarantee your safety, just the safety of your real e-ring.

That is the smart thing to do so don’t feel bad at all!
I remember reading an article suggesting brides to wear substitute rings for vacationing, fitness, or overall safety. Even certain celebrities/tv personalities such as Lauren Conrad have totally done this while vacationing.
You can get a placeholder cz, moissy, or skip the e-ring all together!
There are great and cheap silicone grade bands for when you exercise as well to prevent the problems you can have if you were to injury your hands. I know friends who use these same bands for traveling or for going into town to prevent folks from automatically assuming you’re rich/possible target.

I flip my rings around whenever I find myself in Sketchville, USA.
That said, I’m about to have to attend clinicals in a super yikes neighborhood. I’m thinking of getting a plain platinum band for those days…
I think it’s smart to be aware of your surroundings! Stand in ring is a great idea! Taking extra measures to ensure safety in dangerous areas is always a wise thing to do. And yay more rings!
