Maybe it’s because I’m on a detox diet, so anything sweet & not produce sounds awesome. I guess I love torturing myself with pictures of yummy things that I can’t currently eat. I am also finding anything to do but work…I keep telling myself 10 more minutes, but that hasn’t stopped me!
We are having a dessert table. My friend’s mom does pastry catering and is flying out for my wedding to do desserts/hang out with her daughter. Her list sounds awesome, but I also want to add some items to it, and possibly do some DIY. I figure I can make some items that week, several days before my wedding. I love to bake and I’m trying to let go of that task, but I can’t seem to. Some friends have also volunteered to bring some desserts (which would be something from my list).
Our guest list is about 80 right now, and I’m expecting 60 people to show up. We will have BBQ for dinner. This is what is on my list for dessert currently (I think I should reduce it…what though!?!). Help me decide:
– cheesecake balls
– rice crispy treats
– cookies: cappuccino chocolate, chocolate chip, snickerdoodle, and??
– truffles (super easy to make)
– mini cherry pies
– cake balls
– mini cupcakes: pink champagne, mocha, white w/raspberry, chocolate
– lemon tarts
– mouse cups: raspberry, chocolate
– mocha rum cake
– pink grapefruit yogurt cake
– peach cobler
good god that’s a lot! I need to cut that list in half…but what!?! it all sounds soooo good!!!!

@ms. rice crispy treat: cookies, cupcakes, and brownies always go over well. I love cake balls, but that’s just me. Though if you were to DIY that, it would a few days at least when I make them. You could bake the cakes a week or two in advance and freeze them before you do the balling and enrobing in chocolate. Also, you could DIY the easy stuff and leave the more time consuming stuff to the pastry chef.

I have had the hardest time answering you! I have typed this like six times. I don’t know what to cut!
I guess I’d get rid of the mocha rum cake. You already have some chocolates. I’d keep the pies. You could probably get rid of the lemon tarts.
You could always cut down to the cheesecake and cake balls along with assorted cookies.
Damn. I hate telling you to cut any of it!!

Definitely keep the lemon tarts. It’ll be nice to have a dessert option that’s not so super sweet.

@sailor: See I knew cutting it down was hard! I now vote keep the lemon tarts.

Oh my goodness. I totally feel you about cutting down dessert lists! Mine has been a source of almost complete obsession for me for the last few weeks! I have been adding things to my list of what to make, even after I added a poll on here like you did to try and see what to cut. Here is my poll here, and my cheesecake one here if you wanted to have a look at what people have voted for from my lists. I now have about 10 more things on my list to make.I just can’t cut anything out! I love them all too much!
Of yours I would cut the mocha rum cake, but only because I don’t like coffee or rum, and I believe that many people are the same (?). Everything else looks awesome!
For your extra cookie, maybe something plainish or fruity? I am making something like these http://www.recipes.com.au/Recipe/Christmas-Shortbread-Stars.aspx but in heart shapes and just with the red cherries to avoid looking Christmassy.
Overall though, I don’t really think you can go wrong. (I wish I could take my own advice and stop overthinking!) Have some noodle boxes or bags so people can take some as favours, if you think you will overcater (as I KNOW I am).

When I read my man the list last night he just laughed & told me I was crazy for wanting to make everything (he said to just email my friend the list & see what her mom can make). At least I’m not going overboard on anything else 🙂
