Why are you so stressed?

@hiroshymatetrastar: Toss the crap, like – really, take it out from your house! Then you go for a walk, a brisk one. You need to get away from the food or the binge might just continue.

And I’m not sure if I should write this, but if you’re REALLY grossed out because of what you just had. Go to the pharmacy and get a laxative.

@hiroshymatetrastar:  Put up all the food that is easy to munch on out of sight and out of mind. Put out a bowl full of fruit instead. Studies have shown you are more likely to eat what is right in front of you then something that is out of sight. Read a book, take a bath or go for a walk, something that is not stressful.

Okay, stop. Pull your hand out of that chip bag. Go wash your hands. Come back. Sit back from your desk. Close your eyes. Take a deeeeeeeep cleansing breath and relax. Sit there and without eating anything, think about why you’re stressing. What else can you do to alleviate your stress? Get a notepad and write down everything that’s freaking you out. Then write down ways you can fight the stress besides nomming. Get up and go for a walk, even if it’s a few laps around the office. Go up and down a flight of stairs if you can. Just try to relax.

@hiroshymatetrastar: But can’t you just toss them at work? If she’s just giving it back to you and you don’t have the self-control to hold off, isn’t it just better to get rid of it?

I am also a stress binge eater!  Go grab a bag of carrots and munch on those!

Then, like PPs have suggested – go and get some exercise!  It helps relieve stress!

@hiroshymatetrastar: I understand the reluctance to toss food, I don’t like to do that either. However, when it comes to binge eating it might be the best solution for moment! Could you bring it to the lunchroom and give it away?

Anyway… whatever solution you come up with, good luck! It’s difficult to stop over eating once you started, so try to keep yourself active and drink lots of water so that you feel fuller.

@hiroshymatetrastar:  I agree with PP. I try and bring healthy stuff to munch on at work. One day I ate an entire bag (16 oz) of baby carrots because I was stress eating.
