I am trying to plan my small Destination Wedding, and I really do not know what I am doing. I keep going back and forth over a DOC. And I don’t know if I should just spend more money and have someone else take care of everything for me. Or should I just try (and pray that it is not a disaster) and do it myself.
Here is my plan so far. Small Destination Wedding, 10 invited guests. All quest will be staying in one location with the bride and groom, all accomodations will be paid by us. All guests are invited to spend the entire weekend (Friday night- Monday morning), again all lodging is paid by us. A very small ceremony (not sure if it will be religious or not yet),it will be outdoors. Photographer will be flown in from a different state, will be meeting them for the first time the weekend of our wedding. All of the grooms/grooms-men attire has already been purchased. Currently awaiting a response from the lady I want to do my flowers. Have set up arrangements to meet with the personal chef that I want to hire. Have tenatively set an appointment to see the lodge we will be renting for the weekend. Still have to locate (hire or purchase) MUA/hair, officiant, wedding cake, wedding dress, custom jeweler, invitations, catering for appetizers, and whatever else I have not thought of. We have not chosen a tradition hotel/resort for our Destination Wedding, rather we have chosen a private home. So nothing extra is included in the price.
I am planning a trip for May of this year to the Destination Wedding location. I have chosen the weekend of May 3-6, so I can get an idea on what the weather will be like, ground conditons (will it be dry/mud/snow?). Of course I want certain things like the wooden cake stands, and rustic decor for our wedding. But what I don’t know is how I am going to get all this stuff from here to there (4.5 hours away),, without me actually taking it there myself. I mean really, am i going to have the time to take care of all of these things?? How long does it really take to get ready for your wedding……if you do it ALL yourself??
So I keep coming back to the DOC idea. I don’t know what all a DOC includes. What do they cost? My budget seems to be exploding by the minute, and I am not afforded the luxury to just spend spend spend more money. I feel like this will NEVER come together. I feel like I will forever be going around and around these things in my head…..trying to decide what I want vs. what I will get.
I think I have lost my mind. Can you bee’s help me find it?? I don’t even know what to ask these perspective vendors if I hire them. If it wasn’t 6:30 a.m., I think I would have to drink some wine to stop being so consumed by all of this!!
