When do you get out of school for the summer?  When is your spring break?  If you get married RIGHT after school lets out, would that work?  You could also get married during spring break.

Where do you work on the weekends?  Is it feasible to start working only one day so you two could go to a local church together to form a relationship with it?  That way you’d feel comfortable being married there.

@MissPatience:  Do you care about getting married in a church? Here in TN, alot of community centers will allow you to rent their building for a wedding. You may be able to look into that. Since they also don’t typically do weddings, they are usually a lot cheaper than banquet halls and things like that.

Or maybe you could get married right before school starts at the end of summer so it’s not too hot and humid?  Just an idea, but are there any ranches, gardens, hotels, or parks that you enjoy?  I’ve also seen some weddings at golf courses.  I’m sure you can find something beautiful and still you 🙂

@MissPatience:  What about a winter wedding? Those can be GORGEOUS. You don’t seem too thrilled for a summer wedding.

ugh, I feel your pain, Im planning a wedding in a small town as well. Have you thought of any out of the box ideas yet? First question, how big is your guest list? the local options here include the VFW, city hall, firehall, and putting a big white tent up somewhere on the tundra.

How about over Christmas break?  That would be kinda fun.  I know when teachers my school get married over breaks the kids go crazy about it…though I teach middle school.  My kids saw my ring (we got engaged over spring break) when we got back and FLIPPED OUT.

@MissPatience:  We rented a cabin in Gatlinburg and had a very small wedding (just 3 guests). The best part is that they have chapels that do the whole thing for you. We had an outdoor wedding package and it allowed for 40 guests but they can accomodate up to 50 I believe and they moved it inside because of the rain but it was still beautiful! It was so worth it! They also have reception packages. We originally had more people going so we had a 3 bedroom cabin and did a small bbq for our reception. It was so stress free!

Here’s where we did our wedding:http://www.chapelatthepark.com/

Here’s the company we rented our cabin from: They were awesome too!

@MissPatience:  It really was perfect! If you have an indoor ceremony, they also give you a dvd of your wedding (which you also get if they move it inside).

Our pictures are the standard pics (not like super artsy) but they are gorgeous and the backgrounds are all gorgeous. The chapel is on East Parkway and about 5 miles down after you turn on that road from Parkway so it’s far enough away from the hustle and bustle of the main strip.

PM me if you want more info! I will never regret getting married in Gatlinburg and doing it the way we did it! It was so perfect.
