Today my Fiance got his orders from the Navy and guess what?
We’re starting our new married journey together happily in Groton, Connecticut! I hear there’s a lot of snow there…brrr. Better start finding some cute snow boots!
And yes..you heard that right.. our new “MARRIED journey” together..
We also set a date!
But wait! Here’s the biggest news of all! Because of deployment schedules being erratic, Fiance and I had a really hard time trying to narrow down on a date. We started feeling hopeless tonight and then it hit us.. Why wait?
I will be marrying my Fiance in a quaint -30 ceremony in Michigan on Saturday, January 19th, 2014.
I am beyond excited! Okay, you guys can start cheering and congratulating now..

Congrats! There were some great places near us (Ann Arbor) for small weddings to choose from.

@aliciapdx: I think we’re trying for The Whitney, in Detroit- hoping it isnt booked.

@ohhbitty: Never been, looks beautiful on their site. It looks like a big space or 30 or so people- on the site the minium is 75 people. Wonder if a weekday (Friday?) would be a lower min.

@aliciapdx: Im not sure if we were looking at the same site but they have ceremony options starting as low as 12 people and going up to renting the entire building out for 220 guests. I would have 25-30 roughly and would be doing a luncheon or dinner depending on what Fiance and I decide on which you have to have a minimum of 25 guests for. But yes it is breathtaking, I used to visit there for sunday tea with my private art teacher as a child and was fascinated by it! Cross your fingers for me that they have an opening!

@ohhbitty: Congratulations! And welcome (soon anyway) to Connecticut! The weather does take some getting used to (last year’s blizzard gave us four. feet. of. snow) but overall it’s a great place to live, equal driving or train distance to NYC or Boston (and Groton is pretty close to Providence and all the Rhode Island beaches, too). Enjoy this next chapter in your lives!!

@ohhbitty: congrats! My husband is in the navy and had zero issues getting time off for our wedding + 2-week honeymoon. When I first met him he was in Groton which is about 2-2.5 hours away from here. He is now stationed in WA state but he is almost done!

@ohhbitty: Congrats! If my brother decides to reinlist after his 4 years in Japan I think his ships homeport is Groton. 🙂
