So yesterday I went and picked up the ring I picked out for my girlfriend. I was planning to propose sometimes around Christmas with her mothers blessing (already have her brothers blessing) however I have recently been away for about a week and I can honestly say I have never missed my gf so much. Seriously, as soon as I got to the airport to fly out I just missed her. I went to visit an old friend and maybe if you saw my other post about her children you will already know what went on there. Basically it really wasn’t good.
Coming back, I realised how lucky I am and that life is all about decisions. I text my mum and thanked her for bringing me up to put certain things first and as priorities. I’m not saying my friend made a deliberate decision to get in to the mess she was in, and I’m not saying I’m perfect, but I think making decisions like putting education first, going to university to get a degree, waiting until meeting the perfect person before settling down, choosing to be open in my sexuality, have ultimately been good decisions. Choosing to propose to my girlfriend now as opposed to Christmas, I feel will be another good decision. I’ve found that special someone that is always there for her, shares my problems, who I still look at and just see the woman of my dreams, and who wants to marry me and have a family. My gut is telling me now is the right time to propose.
As for her Mum, I’ve been thinking it through and I have her brothers blessing. I’m confident their mother will be ok with the proposal and that she likes me.
I’m planning a breakfast in bed proposal with an array of our favourite food as my gf and I are massive foodies. All of our first dates were to patiseries and bakeries and so the ring will be in a ring box shaped like a macaroon which will be inside a box of little macaroons, so that she wont realise until she gets to that special macaroon. 🙂 There will be cheeses and crackers too and then maybe later on that night we’ll go for dinner to celebrate.
Here’s the ring I picked for her. It’s a white gold band with seven little flush set diamonds. It’s very her. Now I’m just waiting for the macaroon ring box to arrive 🙂
