Hi bees. I’m a little upset. Like most brides, I planned on getting ready with my girls at our hotel suite and traveling with them to our venue. Then I realized – the time we need to leave the hotel is the time out guests check into the hotel. My dad bought rooms for nearly 45 guests, and check in is only 1 hour before the ceremony so I’m sure EVERYONE will be in line at the front desk when I make my exit. I don’t want everyone to see me before the wedding. The only thing I can think of is I have to see everyone in full makeup and hair, and then change in the venues small and ugly bathroom (think red metal stalls everywhere). There are no other enclosed rooms at the venue and there is no second exit at the hotel. I don’t know what to do!

Hmmm, No second exit at the Hotel ???
That doesn’t sound right… every Hotel has to have a variety of exits for fire escape etc.
Personally, I’d be doing more investigations.
1- Make sure you get a room on a Floor where no other Guests are going to be located
2- Maybe get off the Elevator a floor up from ground, and then use the stairs (away from the main Lobby) to go out a back / side door.
Beats the heck out of getting dressed in a Bathroom
I’d talk to the Hotel Events Planner… to see what can be done (that is if you can’t actually get to the Hotel prior to the Wedding in the near future to see for yourself)
Hope this helps,

Are you doing getting ready photos? If so, just get a room at another hotel.

I would think that they wouldn’t be there because they’d already be on their way to your ceremony as well…I think most people would check in afterwards. I don’t think it’s legal to have only one exit at a hotel…they might be able to let you use the employee exit.

For fire regulations there has to be multiple exits. Call your hotel and have them email or fax you a map of the hotel. You’ll be fine to get out without people seeing you.

There has to be another way out. We aren’t facing that (check in is at 3, ceremony elsewhere is at 2:30), but when we blocked our hotel the group sales rep mentioned that brides typically use the side exit to board their transportation to the ceremony.

I agree with PPs that there must be more than one way out. I can’t imagine they would be allowed to be open with only one exit (due to fire safety). I also agree with the PP who said they probably wouldn’t check in until after the ceremony as this is what I always do. I would check with your hotel about a different exit plan.

Yah, there has to be fire stairs. Double check with the hotel.

There should definitely be other stairs! Call the venue and check it out.

There definitely has to be another way out but to be honest even if there wasn’t I am sure that you can manage it – just have someone go ahead and make sure its clear
is there some place at your venue to hang out before if you are dressed? maybe you can just leave earlier?

I agree with PPs. I’d definitely find a back door somewhere to leave the hotel without being seen. No way I’d get dressed in a bathroom on my wedding day. I hate doing it at the airport when I travel.

I’m going to second everyone else, you need to talk to the hotel, it isn’t legal for them to have only one entrace/ exist even the small hotels I been too have at a minium two public exits.

I agree that you should talk with the hotel. Even if you aren’t having your wedding there, there are so many options you can be offered. Maybe there is a conference room you can rent to get ready in? Hotels are used to having guests and bridal parties around, so I’m sure they will help you out!

definitely call the hotel and explain your situation, I am SURE they will be able to find another exit for you to use!
