My SO is getting one done in about 2 hours.  I’m just getting ready to bring him!  I’ll let you know!

It won’t suck, mainly a lot of pulling.  AFTERWARDS, be sure and follow the instructions they give you.  NO spitting or straw sucking.  You do not want the dry socket.  it is like childbirth of the mouth.  Horrible horrible pain.

But the extraction itself is a cake walk. You’ll be fine!

It will be fine. I had 6 teeth pulled at one time which left LOTS of gaps. Then I had to get 3 more pulled a few months later. Recovery can suck if the tooth is impacted but for one tooth it should be simple enough. I second following the directions they give you afterwards!!

Upper or lower? There are immediate load implants that are actually done at the time of the extraction, but the whole braces thing is confusing. Typical waiting time for an implant is 3-4 months post extraction, then its left buried for an additional period of time until uncovered and crown made. How long will you be banded? They can make you a single tooth ‘flipper’ partial plate to wear so you don’t have the space showing for your wedding, if everything isn’t completed by then.

Why are you losing a canine? Because of the braces? They are the longest rooted teeth in the mouth, but as long as they used plenty of anesthesia, you’ll be fine.

Oh man, reading this post gave me major anxiety!  I do not enjoy the dentist, ortho, teeth cleaning, or any kind of teeth work!  However with that being said I did have my wisdom teeth pulled and it really wasn’t that bad.  Uncomfortable yes, but insanely awful, no.  Hope everything goes well!

Why will you even need an implant in that spot if they’re attempting to close the gap with the braces? I think you may be a little confused. The implant is placed where the tooth is extracted, and an artificial tooth(crown) is placed on the implant to give you back what was originally there. (a canine)

That’s a pretty big space to try and close and have it look natural, so you’d better talk to them to make sure of the treatment plan!

If the tooth has had a root canal, its already brittle and may break. I think you might be better asking for general anesthesia, as there’s a lot of pressure and deep removal to do.

(yep…before you ask, I was in Dentistry for over 30 years! lol)

I had three pulled at once when I was getting braces.  It is no big deal at all.

I’ve had teeth extracted but mine were molars and I hated it, I still felt some pain despite the anesthesia (sp?) but you get over it soon.
