I heard that FBI is investigating Hillary Clinton? What's up?

I haven’t read anything saying she’s going to be cut from the election. In an unrelated case the FBI discovered emails that  “appear to be pertinent to the investigation” – the one that they already closed and I guess they are now reopening. Nothing I’ve read gives much more detail than that.

They are continuing to look into the case against her, even though it was previously closed. When she was Secretary of State she used a private email instead of her government work issued one. She says she did it so she could send emails from her phone easily. This was not illegal at first, but later became illegal. She had to release all of her emails to the FBI so they could make sure she never used her private email to send classified gov info (because obviously her private personal email wasn’t protected from hacking the way a gov one is, therefore she was risking national security). She was essentially found not guilty.

Apparently they are looking over soem new emails because this other politician’s (Anthony Weiner) case led them to find something else about her emails. Even though it wasn’t an email from her, or from her server.

They haven’t explained yet. I am suspecting that it involves Weiner’s soon to be ex wife, who is close to Hillary and is her aid. She probably sent an email about Hillary to Weiner that somehow pertained to her server, doing something illegal, risking national security, etc.

Who knows though. Hopefully we find out soon. But no, she is not going to be cut from the election. And if something happened to her, her VP Kaine would wind up president instead.

The investigation on Clinton was never closed so it’s an ongoing investigation but she has been cleared of criminal charges.

The emails in question do not at this time appear to be sent or received from Clinton but from her assistant Huma Abedin the estranged wife of Anthony Weiner. Weiner is currently under federal investigation for sexting a 15-year-old.

Comeys letter to congressional leaders was vague and notes that the emails could really be nothing but they could be something. He notes that they will investigate them but it will take time. He does not note reopening a case for criminal charges against Clinton or any members of her team. Both the Trump and Clinton campaigns want the FBI to release more information on what Comey meant for differing reasons. However with the vagueness of the letter and the information we currently have, it does not seem to have a lot to do with Clinton personally.

They have not “re-opened the investigation” which had been closed in July.  They’ve even said that the emails which have surfaced from investigating Anthony Weiner were not withheld from her team.  From the People article:

Responding in a statement obtained by PEOPLE, Hillary for America Chair John Podesta said, “Upon completing this investigation more than three months ago, FBI Director Comey declared no reasonable prosecutor would move forward with a case like this and added that it was not even a close call. In the months since, Donald Trump and his Republican allies have been baselessly second-guessing the FBI and, in both public and private, browbeating the career officials there to revisit their conclusion in a desperate attempt to harm Hillary Clinton’s presidential campaign.”

“FBI Director Comey should immediately provide the American public more information than is contained in the letter he sent to eight Republican committee chairmen,” continued the statement. “Already, we have seen characterizations that the FBI is ‘reopening’ an investigation but Comey’s words do not match that characterization. Director Comey’s letter refers to emails that have come to light in an unrelated case, but we have no idea what those emails are and the Director himself notes they may not even be significant. It is extraordinary that we would see something like this just 11 days out from a presidential election.”

Podesta said that Comey “owes it to the American people” to provide more details on the new emails, and concluded, “We are confident this will not produce any conclusions different from the one the FBI reached in July.”

False alarm. And I hope with all the hacking going on that no one in the government ever sends sensitive information via email ever again.

Proud Canadian here. I’m just so happy I don’t have to vote in the US election! I’ve watched all three debates live – and every one of them has been so entertaining – but it’s certainly not funny when you realize we’re talking about the leader of a country!

With the election only 10 days away, even if the investigation is re-opened, they don’t have enough time to actually do any investigating and arrest her on anything. Even if they do find something she shouldn’t have sent, the election will already go on (some people have already pre-voted!) and we will have a winner – President Clinton (I just can’t imagine Donald – no matter how much I don’t like Hilary). After the election the FBI will continue their investigation and if she’s convicted her Vice-President can take over.

Nothing more than republican FBI director trying to give Republicans what they wanted with the endless investigations of Clinton, which wasted our tax dollars and proved she was… innocent.

Comey might have violated the Hatch Act by releasing a statetment so vague as to suggest investigations into Clinton. law enforcement is not supposed to admit let alone suggest they are investigating a candidate because it can impact an election and can  be used for partisan purposes.

Fox News is thrilled.

From what I read and watch (alternative news), it’s got a whole lot to do with a whole lot of different things. The emails are one element. I didn’t experience (I live in Australia) but there was an Internet blackout a couple of days ago on the east side I believe. I have heard that Hillary set that up and blamed it on Russia as she is looking to bring about a war with Russia to make money (? I think it’s got to do with sales/production of weapons). Like I said, I really only watch alternative news and don’t live in the US so it could have a completely different reason behind it all but that’s just what a lot of alternative news stations are claiming.

I don’t know what to think…everything gets so twisted by the media before even it makes its way to us. But I think this whole “theyre not reopening the investigation!!!” line is just semantics. Like they found new emails that they’re going to investigate. So whether that means they’re technically opening the old investigation or they’re starting a new one – does it make a real difference?

In any event I already voted absentee for Clinton and short of an email revealing that she is privately in league with ISIS or something, I can’t really see how anything this “investigation” might reveal would have compeled me to switch to Trump.

Apparently more unsecured emails were discovered that are relevent to Hillary, from/to her aides computer. Her aides computer was seized because her husband is being investigated. Unsure why this computer was not destroyed with hammers like some other computers n phones were. These constant scandals. Wikileaks, investigations could derail Hillary from becoming our next president.

mrstodd2bee :

So it bothers you more that these computers weren’t destroyed, than the prospect of something bad being on them and being made public?
