I’ve probably tried on a total of 15 dresses in the past few months. First of all, what I had imagined and what actually looked good on me are two totally different things. Today I discovered the clearance rack at the bridal shop I was at, I tried on a few of those, and the last one I tried on was a Maggie Sottero “Harriet” in white for 60% off!!!!! It looked beautiful on me and it was a steal for all the detail on the dress…I was super nervous to make a decision because it was so far from what I wanted and had imagined, but I was also nervous that if I went home to think about it the dress would be gone! So I bought it.
BHLDN gown that I originally wanted (but wasn’t able to try on or afford):
Maggie Sottero “Harriet” that I got (for a steal!):
And since my dress has to have sleeves these are options similar to what I’m thinking of adding to the M.S. (either lace or just crystals on sheer fabric): (think less cape-y, more sleeve-y)
So my dilemma is, while I have a beautiful dress, everything I’ve been envisioning now has to be completely changed…I wanted a simple warm ivory dress and I wanted my wedding colors to be peaches and corals and golds, and I wanted to have super unique shoes and jewelry to compliment the simple dress…but now I have a very elegant, white, more “fancy” traditional dress…I feel like the warm colors I wanted to use won’t work and I certainly can’t have elaborate jewelry or cool shoes…I just don’t know what to do now, I feel like now that I’ve changed the dress everything else I wanted has to change too. I don’t want to say I have REGRET exactly, but I’m just kind of in shock. (if this influences your feedback at all: I’m a size 16 (bridal), very pale but with warm hair, eye, and skin undertone if that makes sense at all). Will warm colors work with the white? Can I still have a more simple vibe? What are your opinions on the shoe/jewelry situation? Thoughts on the bridal “tops”?
Please share any experiences, advice, opinions, sympathy, pics, even jokes, and feel free to address anything I haven’t mentioned…all are welcome!! Thanks for your support in advance!!
