I use Homeaway alot. I used them for my private villa bridal suite in montecito. absolutely gorgeous, private, and has it’s own pool and jacuzzi. It was less than a 2star hotel there. I don’t know why more people don’t use theses resources but they are really missing out

@fvsoccer:Our budget is less, but we’re cheaping it up at small B&Bs and camping. 🙂

I’m a big fan of B&Bs and moving around a lot, so I never stay the same place long enough to use that site you recommended, but it a great idea for saving $$!

Thanks for sharing!

If it wasn’t for our need of first class airfare (FI has back problems, needs extra space) I would be all over this. It sounds like you’re Honeymoon is going to be amazing!

Renting a house or apartment somewhere is almost always cheaper and more private than a resort. We rented a house for our honeymoon. I find resorts to be pretty irritating, actually. Once you have a private home on a great beach all to yourself, you don’t go back!

@fvsoccer: Yea, I know. It’s just that first class airfare to just about anywhere STARTS at $1500 per person. We were quoted $3100 for 2 tickets to DR. Our total Honeymoon budget is $4,000 and I just can’t justify blowing almost the whole thing on transportation. Thats why we opted for a cruise that leaves out of a local port.

Someday when we win the lottery we can fly! lol

we changed our honey moon about half a dozen times. first we were going to south padre island in texas. then vegas. the san francisco. then chicago. finally we settled on a cruise. we can drive to la (port of call) and take 5 days to some place in mexico. for both of us it came to like 800 bucks not including gas to get to my grandmas who will drive us to la so we dont have to pay almost a weeks worth of parking.
