HopefulCatlover:  i didnt have a traditional song (traditional meaning classical).

I hired a cellist and guitarist to play during our ceremony and I looked through their library of songs and listened to samples and when I heard “Can’t help falling in love” instrumental it just sounded so beautiful it brought me to tears every time.

HopefulCatlover:  We are having a harpist and are completely torn between Canon in D (which I always imagined I would have) and the harp version of You and Me by Lifehouse

Daizy914:  That sounds beautiful…I love instrumentals of more contemporary songs when they’re played on a live instrument

I’ve seen that song in weddings before (heck I’ve even played that song in high school band haha) and it really is a beautiful choice, it’s very elegant and bubbly

I never thought of my wedding as a youngster but once I heard Canon in D in jr. High I knew I would be married and buried to that beautiful music. Although, now that I am planning a wedding I am using Beatles music for my ceremony music (it references the way he proposed). We picked the theme and venue for the wedding before he proposed so music was the best way to reference the proposal. Sad. I really love that piece! It sounds perfect for your wedding!

For ours we are doing instrumental “In My Life”, “I Will”, “Julia” (for me, my name is Julia) and when we leave, “All You Need Is Love” (he proposed as this song played).

HopefulCatlover:  I’m walking down to “never gonna be alone” by nickelback but it’ll be piano only. Fiance wanted it as our first dance and I wasn’t sold. When I heard someone play it on piano it was beautiful and knew it was the song I wanted to walk down the aisle to

HopefulCatlover:  I had Pachelbel’s Canon in D, played by our string trio. I’d always wanted it, as it is a beautiful piece of music and gets me really emotional (and on the day I did start welling up as soon as they started playing!). My bridesmaids walked in before me to Handel’s Hornpipe, which I also love; it’s really joyful and uplifting.

The music was really important to us and a lot of thought went into it.

Like PP I just knew I wanted to walk down to Pachelbel’s Canon in D. We had a string duo for the wedding and it was perfect (they played contemporary songs as guests arrived).

I didn’t have a choice Lol Because my husband wrote music for our ceremony and  we hired an orchestra to play His 2 songs.. On top of his songs orchestra played The Promise/ Secret Garden and Song to the siren ..it was very romantic and classy.. Made everyone cry lol

I love the band Queen and that tends to surprise people for some reason. FIs family was surprised at his brothers wedding when I first met them and his mom (who I had met on several occasions) head banged to Bohemian Rhapsody.

So one day I heard the traditional wedding march, but it was awesome! Find out it’s Queen (from the flash Gordon movie soundtrack-never it) and I’m sold!

My dad is pumped about it. It’s great because my bridal party is walking to a slow, sweet song. Then the rock starts! Lol

We’re also using Canon in D played by a harpist and violinist. Future Mother-In-Law is actually the one who suggested the song, after hearing it played by some musicians when she was in Ireland. Once I heard it, I fell in love!
