About a month ago I ordered a used dress online for a really great deal. Like a good bride should, I stopped looking. But weeks went by, and it didn’t come. It was only traveling one state over and I gave up hope that it would ever arrive. I was even in the process of getting my money back from the store. So then I started looking around in shops, and I found THE ONE (I actually posted it a couple of days ago).
Welp, tonight, it arrived. And now I don’t know what to do. It’s not that I don’t love it, its just that the other one went above and beyond what I’d wanted.
If I were to sell it, should I get it cleaned and everything? It has a lot of wrinkles and the train has black markings on it (it’d come off in a wash). What do you think is a fair price? I don’t know where to start.
Or should I keep it and just go with this one? I don’t know! Pictures are below, but I warn the pictures aren’t very good. The dress is wayyy nicer in person. Its a very heavy high quality silk material.
I wish I had a close up picture of the detailing but it’s at my mom’s house since I didn’t want to risk my fiance seeing it!

I don’t have much advice on how to go about re-selling the dress but I think this dress is absolutely gorgeous (despite it not really being my style) and you look stunning in it, wrinkled and all!
but if the wedding dress is an important part of your dream wedding then I would suggest going for the one you really really love.
Argh, can’t get over how lovely you look in the dress! 🙂

It’s perfectly lovely and there’s nothing at all wrong with it so long as you like it/that’s the style you want, but I have to say that I preferred the dress in your other thread on you. The neckline really showed off your gorgeous shoulders/decolletage: http://boards.weddingbee.com/topic/trying-to-find-a-cheap-version-of-this/

you look really good but agree with PP that you look amazing in the other dress you tried on!

Your other dress is stunning on you. When i first saw it my first thought was “oh my gosh, its amazing!” You should go with the one you feel best in. I don’t have any advice for selling though…

AddieNicole: Have you purchased the one you posted about? Or not yet?
Either way I LOVE the one you first posted a lot more than this one. Yes, this one is lovely but something about the other dress just made you shine. The sweetheart neckline suits you a LOT better than this one does.
Regarding selling this one, I’m not much help. I think that how much you sell it for depends on how much you paid for it. Knock maybe 20% off (I’m just guessing at a number here haha) since you’ve never worn it. Will the marks spot clean (or will that leave water marks). It would be nice for you to clean and steam it before selling it I think.

AddieNicole: I have no advice about selling a dress. I am only posting to tell you how totally jealous I am of your great hair. You look adorable in short in hair. I wish I did.
FWIW, you look fab in both dresses. I’d hold onto it in case you don’t end up getting the other dress for what ever reason. Then you have a back up dress just in case. You can sell it anytime!

Take it to a bridal tailor and have them steam and spot clean it for you. If you do it yourself you risk damaging it and decreasing the sale value more (especially since fabrics like satin are susceptible to water stains). Another Bee suggested 20% off which sounds about right especially since it still had tags on it and has not been worn, make a note on your sale post you had the dress professionaly cleaned and steamed.
I have had many brides I have worked with have success with this site:

Both gowns are very pretty but as soon as you call the other gown ‘THE ONE’ I think you know the answer… What’s the return policy at the store, or was it a final sale? If you have the designer name/style you could see what the dress is selling for on the preowned sites.

The dress I posted above I bought on auction for $150. Here is “the one” and it’s $850.
My total plan was actually to add a top, like below, but with half sleeves instead of full. I’m not insecure I just really like sleeves lol.

Bridey77: Aww thank you! Haha. Although I maintain my stance that ANYONE can pull off short hair, it just takes confidence 🙂
Thank you for making this point of hanging on to it. I felt like I needed to make a decision right now but I really don’t. Makes me feel a lot less stressed 🙂

OneDayMrsL: I have not purchased it yet. It’s a lot higher on my price range than I’d like. :\

Both of those dresses are gorgeous on you and I don’t think that you can go wrong with either, but get the one that you like more.

AddieNicole: You look beautiful in both of them but you are smiling so big in the the dress you just got. I know that first dress picture, that you posted, you could just be focussing on taking the picture, But you just look so happy in the dress you have already bought. What did your mom think? Good Luck, which ever one you decide on!
