theatrejulia:  I have two pits and one still acts like a puppy.  I am actually surprised no one has said anything to me yet.

Fellow GSD parent here and I know all about the cuts/scratches/bruises that result from having two large, powerful and sometimes unruly dogs. I currently have a giant (about 2 inch diameter) bruise on my forearm from being pulled down the steps by one of them and smashing my arm. I am not trying to cover it up or anything and luckily nobody at work has said anything about it! Sometimes I wonder what people must think.

I’m guessing none of those 20 people have ever spent time with a German Shepard. I’m sure if they were in your home for all of 5 minutes they would think differently.

I once had a coworker ready to hunt my Darling Husband down and beat him up because I came into work with a swollen eye…. my pup had knocked his head into me face while I was sleeping and my cowoker thought I was trying to cover up for my abusive husband. Lol, thanks for the concern buddy but I just have a restless dog in my bed.

theatrejulia:  I looooooooove them! They look like they’re mischievous! I have a friend who has “old people’s” thin skin and a young dog. She looks totally beat up!! I guess it would feel weird to be “wrongly accused”.

Oh my gosh! I have an all black german shep that’s not even a year old yet and she does NOT respect the “personal” bubble. She just lunges on people when she’s excited so I can totally compare with you on how bruises just show up from the dogs! I think it’s soooo rude of people to insinuate that it comes from your husband. Who are they to make assumptions?! Sorry that happened, but you know your truth and that’s all that matters!

Can you share more pics of your pups?! Lol I’d love to see um! My little girl looks just like your black GSD!

Girl I feel you. I have a 80 pound, 7 month old pup. Unless people have dogs, or even big dogs, they don’t get it. This is the one I hear alot “Why don’t you make your dogs sleep on the floor?” Well, dude, they are my kids. Just like your 1 year old snot monster is your kid. No way you’d make him sleep on the floor!

I had a Pitbull in middle school and one night he decided that he should run over my face while I was sleeping. I woke up with a huge black eye. Luckily no one questioned me at school or thought my parents beat me, but I can totally see how some people would ask questions.

There’s nothing to convince people. Infact the more you try the more its going to look like you are over compensating. But it is good that people are concerned.

They are adorable! At least they were trying to look out for you,  thats a good thing so long as they believe you.

My FI’s brother got two lab puppies, a black and a chocolate, and they’re almost two now.  They are absolute bulls.  They’ve calmed down slightly, but only a tiny bit.  They’ve knocked Future Mother-In-Law down the stairs twice just being too fast, causin some bruised ribs and sore tooshies.  They jumped up on me once, bruising the front/inside of my thighs.  Thankfully too high up to be noticed wearing a dress or skirt, but seriously looked like rape bruising.  They were huge bruises and lasted like a week.  Also thankfully, they know my son is a kid and are super gentle with him.  He’s five but they are so good around him.  Dogs are so interesting.

I thought I dislocated my jaw in my sleep (I didn’t! It just shifted and locked). I have severe TMJ. The nurse wouldn’t talk to me with Fiance in the room. She kept asking if I was safe and that I could get help if I needed it, and she glared at him every chance she got, because I kept saying I had no idea how it happened – because I didn’t!

I understand that domestic violence is a very real issue, but it’s not the only issue.
