theatrejulia:  My dog has hospitalized me twice.  The first time I told the Drs/nurses it was because of him, and I’m pretty sure they thought my husband did it.  The second time, a few months later and same hospital, I didn’t tell them anything .  My husband said I should be honest but I told him he’d likely end up in jail if I told them what really happened, because they most definitely would not believe me!

They are beautiful! I completely understand we have a 1 1/2 year old husky and a 7 year old Rottweiler/ German Shepherd and we play rough to.  I get asked the same thing at work all the time !

I work with animals and my Fiance jokes that I’m not allowed to wear sleeveless tops and shorts in public because people with think he abuses me. Lol. That said, despite the many bruises and cuts I get, no one has ever asked if I’ve been abused. If they did, I would explain that dog’s (and cats ) can do a lot of damage and leave it at that.

I understand completely! I do IPO with mine and I’m frequently bruised or scratched up in spite of wearing protective clothing (or when the teeth go through the clothing…). A friend had a very embarrassing conversation with her gyno for this reason.  She had some bruises in a very personal area. No, they weren’t from her husband and/or sexual violence, they were from her young dog learning to retrieve and return front.  He’d literally smash the dumbbell into her crotch with the full force of his run behind it.  She wanted that because she wanted a very enthusiastic retrieve he would learn control later (i.e. stopping short of running into her), but for a start the ramming was great (if painful)! The doctor was very sceptical — which is actually no bad thing from the point of getting proper help for women who have been abused  — so my friend ended up inviting her to a training session so she could see for herself.  After that the bruising made sense!

Also +1 for black dogs! My older dog is black.

Omg your dogs are so cute. I have a weakness for big clunky dogs. Mine (guess what breed lol) knocked me down the stairs and I tore my MCL . She’s a bruiser – literally – but I love her.

I totally understand your problem,  unfortunately you might just need to brush the unwanted comments off.  People who don’t have a GSD just don’t get it.  My two little buggers are the same size as yours,  and both are females,  which it’s a bit large for their breed.  They are rough when playing and leave bruises and scratches all the time.  Currently I’m sporting one on my abdomen from the baby trying to kiss me when i was sitting on the lazy boy couch.  She jumped on me digging her paws into my stomach.  Little shit!I can completely forgive domestic violence from a bugger  like this.

I completely understand.  My 23lb Shiba Inu beats me at night.  He sleeps next to me with his paws extended and punches me and scratches me.  I wake up with bruises all over and it really looks like i’m being beaten up all the time.  Luckily no one has questioned me about it….yet.

Google “Lucy Has A Black Eye” and watch it. It’s fun!

Your dogs are magnigficent, and people who believe you will believe you and people who don’t won’t, so just let ot go.

Those doggies are well worth the gossip!!!!!
