@deetroitwhat:  yes I actually did read what she wrote!!

what I’m getting at is it could still end up being a bad haircut. Who hasn’t had that happen?

I’d save the new cut for my honeymoon instead, but I’m not one to take risks especially with my hair.

You shouldn’t cut with all the product in your hair for the long style, so you’re talking about washing, chopping, trimming, styling, finishing, and retouching your make-up to achieve the new ‘do before the reception. To me, that just seems like a lot of fuss after having spent hours earlier getting ready before the ceremony.

@Steampunkbride:  +1 to everything here.

Though I do love the idea in theory so much.

As a long term short hair lover, I really like this idea, I’m in exactly the same situation – that I’m growing my hair for the wedding. But i CAN NOT wait to have it chopped right after!

It sounds like it will be very difficult to make this plan work, but if you can do it I think it would be brilliant Laughing. What a fun, personal twist to your wedding day.

@AndysCraftsNmore:  I’ve seen lots of brides with short hair. I love it!  I also think it’s important for you to feel like yourself on your wedding day. if long hair is not you, then don’t do it just for the wedding!

do a google image search for “short hair bride” and you will see tons of gorgeous inspiration photos!  this one is my favorite:

@AndysCraftsNmore: by the way, I honestly wouldn’t cut my hair ON the wedding day. that is so risky.  why not get a gorgeous haircut a few days/weeks in advance from a hair stylist you trust the most, and rock it for your ceremony?

@AndysCraftsNmore:  I think it’s a cool idea and certainly one that would leave a great impression on guests (it would on me, that’s for sure)…..but I still agree with the PPs that say that brides should look the way *they* want to look…..the whole “growing my hair out for the wedding” thing (*especially* when it’s clearly not your style) is so odd….why would you want lifelong pictures of yourself not looking “like you”?  But at the same time, I, as an inner pixie-lover (I love pixies, they just don’t love me LOL) can understand the fantasy of the long wavy romantic hair…..so you’ve struck gold and found the best of both worlds!  Would definitely make for some amazing candid shots during the cut and it would give a whole additionally “first look” with your brand-new husband! 🙂
