Any suggestions on how to get rid of a headache? It’s lasted a straight 24 hours without a break.
I’ve taken tylenol. I’ve ate. I’ve drank TONS of fluid. I’ve slept. I’ve done everything. It just won’t go away.
I want to puke and cry at the same time because it hurts that bad.

Lay down with the lights off and a cold cloth over your head making sure it touches your temples.
Not much else you can do I dont think other than make yourself comfortable and remove extra stimulation.
I am sorry 🙁 I have one today that is not going away, but yours sounds worse.

Sometimes I put an ice pack at the base of my neck. Sometimes I have a little caffine. I had really bad headaches during my first trimester and ended up having to get prescribed a medication by my doctor’s office because I couldn’t function. Have you tried calling your doc.

@figgnewton: I have an idea, but you’ll have to run to the drug store/walmart. Pick something up named Tiger Balm (it’s $5.67 here where I live). It’s an ointment for body aches, but Darling Husband told me he heard it was good for headaches and migraines.
So I tried it last week. I put a little on each temple, just above the brows and a little on the back of the neck and it helped SO much. The other night Darling Husband got a bad migraine (he gets them a lot) so he used it and within 20 minutes he was feeling much better.

I second PP and suggest a cold wash cloth and also lay down with a firm pillow so your next is supported nicely, that usually helps me.

I get migraines and sometimes if I can hit it with a little caffeine before it gets really bad that can head it off, and even once it’s full on can make it subside a little.
And then get off the computer and get yourself to a nice dark room.

Is this your first migraine by any chance? The first one is supposed to be pretty bad (my first few were hands down my worst). Excedrin is the only over the counter drug that works for me, along with a hot shower and sleep.
ETA: If it’s been 24 hours with no change you may want to consider going to urgent care or calling a Nurse’s line. It’s almost certainly not anything serious (in my completely unprofessional opinion) but they can advise you further or write you a prescription for a stronger medication. Feel better!

I think she forgot to mention in her post that she is pregnant, so taking certain medications isn’t possible.
But definitely keep an eye on it and go to the doctor if it’s not gone in the morning!

@Lyndzo: I LOVE Tiger Balm. That stuff is amazing and helps with so many different pains

@figgnewton: For bad headaches during pregnancy, I use a little bit of BioFreeze (kind of like aspercream) around my temples and have a little caffeine– like half of a can of Coke. I would absolutely call your doctor at this point though! Can you tell at all what it’s related to? Like did you sleep wrong/get a kink in your neck?

Call your doctor. I’ve had a nonstop headache for the past 3 days now and the doctor made me come in and see her today. She wanted to check my urine and blood pressure. They are watching me closely now because severe headaches can be an early sign of preeclampsia. I’m not trying to freak you out.. I’m just being honest. How far along are you now?

I was going to say to get some caffeine in your system but I realize this is the pregnancy boards so that’s probably not the best advice. Maybe a washcloth over your eyes and Sleep

I third the tiger balm. Get the extra strength stuff. I put it on the back of my neck, on my temples, in that space above my eye sockets and on my forehead, drink a full glass of water, put an eye mask on and pass out.
If only you could do caffiene. 🙁
Drink lots of water!!!

Also, you’re allowed to drink 8oz. of caffeine while pregnant. Go drink a coke!

@ForeverBlessed: Was about to say the same. “The worst headache ever and nothing will help it” can be a sign of gestational hypertension or pre-eclampsia in later pregnancy.
Also, moderate amounts of caffeine are safe, up to 400mg, so I’d try that as well as the suggestions of other PPs (Tiger Balm, cold compresses, acetominophen 1000mg every 4-6hrs).
