Hello Bees,
Has this happened to anyone else? I keep forgetting that my last name has changed and it seems to really bother my husband (ahhh still getting used to that one too!). I keep writing and signing my old name, but it’s really just out of habit. I feel like I need one of those sheets you get in kindergarten that shows you how to spell your name correctly haha. Silly me. Hopefully I will get it straight soon or my poor man will think I’m regretting this marriage instead of just being a dumb blonde :p

It’s normal 🙂 It’s hard to change your name after so many years. Your husband shouldn’t get upset. Mine always thought it was funny. Even when someone asked for my name, I felt funny saying my married name. Just didn’t roll off the tongue like my maiden name.
Now, almost 10 months after getting married, I’m pretty much used to it. The odd day I’ll completely forget. Like I just moved floors at work and went to find my new mail slot. I stood there staring at them trying to find my name, couldn’t figure out why it wasnt there. Turns out I was looking for my maiden name. Opps!!!

It definitely takes some getting used to. I had a Dr. appt a few weeks after we got married and sat there like an idiot while they called Mrs. Newlastname three times before I realized that was me *facepalm*

Whenever I make an appointment or check in for one I give both last names since I can’t remember if I remembered to use my new name or not if my account is still under my old name. Oh well. It’s hard changing 20+ years.

Haha – it took me MONTHS to say my name correctly!
The funny story I have was when I was at a bar & had a tab open under my legal last name (ie. my married name) so I walked up and kept saying my maiden name, eventually the bartender teased me and said, you mean “_____” reffering to my legal married name. My friends just busted out laughing b/c the bartender even corrected me, haha!

I’m glad to know I am not the only one! These stories make me feel better 🙂
I think my man notices more because we’re supposed to be using his name, but what he doesn’t realize is that he’s written, listened for, and looked for that name for years whereas it’s completely new to me!

Try working in an elementary school where 300+ people are calling you two different names!

I can definitely relate as I still go by my maiden name for work, but have changed my name legally to First Name Newlastname. I am still in the habit of signing my Oldlastname, but just realized (after eight months of being married) that I signed my debit card with the wrong name. What even makes it worse is that my Oldlastname was only three characters and my Newlastname is eleven. With that being said, I have several places that have asked if they could keep my account with my Oldlastname. I’m not sure if I will ever figure out who I am. Oh well, at least he’s the best guy ever and takes it all in stride. =)

I can totally relate 🙂
I had to deposit a check this morning and I started to sign my old last name, then remembered, so I switched, and then I spelled my new last name wrong. The teller knows me by name, so all she did was laugh with me. I felt like such a dork :-/

its going to take a while you have been writing your “old” name your whole life.. you will get it eventually but there are bound to be slip ups.

I still struggle with this after a year and a half! I still go by my maiden name professionally, and everwhere else MyFirst MyMaiden HisLast unless it’s something trivial (like my oil change- then it’s MyFirst HisLast).
