Holy crap!  You’re wedding is H-U-G-E!!  I’d die if I had even close to that amount.  We invited 122 and we had 100.  It all worked out because 100 was my goal number.

I was a Flower Girl in my cousins wedding and she had 600 people. We only had 84 people, lol and that cousin wasn’t one of them.

@BooRadley:  I should mention that we don’t expect over 400 to show up and I’m from a very small town in Iowa. We’re doing a buffet dinner with two meat choices, two potatoes, two other vegetables, and two salads for $6.95 per plate, which is keeping our costs very low. Also, we’re having a cash bar, DIY decorations, my dress was under $1000, I’m going to make our invitations, no STDs, and no favors. Which is pretty typical of where we live.

@bella128:  Haha I feel like we need to have a “strategy” for making sure we acknowledge each table personally… and like other PP have said, it definitely gives me heart palpitations… sigh!!! Should be fun! lol

@MrsCanoodle:  Oh my gosh!!  How are you doing that many people on that budget??  I would LOVE to only spend that and not have to cut the guest list in order to do so.  We’re at 250 right now, but we can only reasonably afford 180…  Please let me pick your brain!!  =)

Whoops!  You already answered!  I’m originally from Illinois, and I WISH we could get married there.  All my friends are there!  BUT, I live in Colorado now, my whole family lives here now, and the future hubs is from California, which is where all his friends and family are, so it makes sense to stay here and everyone has to travel since we’re basically in the middle of the two.  It is SO expensive to get married here!  I wish I could have a midwestern wedding, for sure!  =)

In my opinion anything over 200 people is a big wedding (head count wise). I do think that smaller head count weddings with big budgets are also considered “big weddings” as well.

To be honest 425 seems insane.

I went to a wedding once that no joke, had close to 900 people there.  The couple was Indian and I was told that in their culture big weddings are very common.

We invited 325 to ours and we had about 300 come.  We actually had to cut the guest list down to 325!

It was fun, but I wish it were smaller as there just isn’t enough time to talk to a lot of people for any length of time.

I went to an Indian wedding once with about 1200 guests. It was held in a performing arts center. Now THAT was a zoo!

To me, big is definitely anything over 150. If guests would not be able to mingle with every other guest, it’s big. Small is anything under 50. You, in my opinion, had a megawedding.

    Wow, your wedding is huge.

I have been told by everyone that I am having a big wedding: I am planning on 150 guests.

@madilyng02:  That is definitely one thing I’m glad about – our location! My fiance and I grew up ten miles from each other and our families are all in the area. It’s going to work out great. Plus because my parents are so well known in the area (cattlemen stuff – not moneywise) they know a bunch of people willing to help out. Like our “videographer” is a volunteer that does it at local weddings, we’re doing strawberry shortcake that my family is making a few weeks in advance and freezing, and of course, the catering is super cheap. I hope you can still have the wedding of your dreams! I’m sure it will be beautiful!

FutureMrsBG: are you doing a receiving line?  I think that’s the only way we can make sure we say hello to everyone.  if you do tables you probably won’t get dinner…
