I too bought my sashes for the chairs.  we saved about 120 dollars by doing this.  But, no I have yet to laugh out loud at someone.  I would have given anything to be a fly on the wall to see her reaction to you. Sounds funny…..:)

I didn’t laugh but I politely told her I bought EVERYTHING.  She said, “oh my” probably think it cost a fortune (which it sorta did), but it was still cheaper than if I had used the crap that she offered!  Ugh.

Too Funny!  I was shocked at the difference between buying vs. renting in prices!  And you can always resell and make some of it back!

I was quoted $25.00 per table linen for a a crushed eggplant taffeta table cloth. I found it for 10.45 at a wholesale linen store. It’s ridiculous how much they jack up the prices to rent something out. At least if i buy my linen, I can sell it and get some kind of money back.

Well, rental does at least include washing and ironing.

A friend rented some chair covers for $2.00 through an outside company… so look around at other rental companies too 🙂

My venue offers chair covers for….$7 PER CHAIR.  It does astound me that I could buy this stuff for cheaper than I can rent it.

Its CRAZY i think thats why there is so many brides who actully buy all the stuff now. I am totally the person who would have busted out laughing if someone told me it was $5.99 for a chair cover!

That is crazy.  I ran into the same issues with tablecloths.  I saved $600 by buying my own instead of renting them from our caterer, since I got them cheaper and then sold them.  Yea for me!

I decided to do the same with plates.  I wanted a vintage look anyway, so I’m buying mismatched plates at Goodwill.  And I’m hoping to find mason jars for drinking for cheap.  My potential caterer said “I just threw away 100 of those” at our tasting yesterday.  Makes me think I should dumpster dive behind catering or rental companies…

You all have inspired me to look for linens to buy too!  I guess the best thing would be to buy from another bride on here, wouldn’t it…
