@ChicFoodist:  I did the course at fertilityfriend and temped/ monitored CM when I was charting.Didn’t use OPK’s though.

@BellaDee:  If you’re just logging the length of your cycles, though, the software will just *guess* at ovulation. If you aren’t providing CM or temps then there is no way to know when you are oing.

I have typically 28-29 day cycles (with a few 32 days thrown in). One would think my average O date would be CD 14..but nope, I typically O around 16-17..and have gone earlier (CD 12).

That being said, pregnancy is of course possible in your case, but given how early in your cycle are, it’s probably not likely..

But then again, if you read my story from above, everyone gets thrown curveballs in terms of babymaking ….hehe

Thanks for all the tips! 🙂

I have an IUD so I’m pretty much covered when it comes to unwanted pregnancies, but at my last gyn checkup, my doctor said to try checking when I ovulate to make sure it’s 2 weeks before my period because my cycles are on the long side, so I will look into this!

@BellaDee:  I think you’re worrying over something you can’t control- even if you start TTC in January and it happens the first try- you’re going to be super pregnant in the summer LOL

If you don’t want to be- and that’s seriously an issue for you- try getting pregnant in late summer for a late spring/early summer baby?

the thing is… even if you are logging your cycles, if you aren’t logging your temp… you still have no idea when you ovulate. all you know is how long your cycles are.

not all women ovulate at day 14. some ovulate early and have longer luteal phases. some ovulate late and have short luteal phases.

this is the second time you’ve had a scare (that i have seen) in only a couple of months. i suggest you start taking your temp every day and save yourself a lot of trouble.

@rosworms:  +1. CM alone isn’t a good indicator necessarily. Watery CM is fertile CM along with eggwhite. I had EW cm last month the day before AF started. If you aren’t temping, I would at least use OPKs to get a good handle. However OPKs aren’t always 100%. Typically, your chances of being pregnant right now are slim but you never know. Everything was timed great this last month in terms of BD, etc and I just got my 100% BFN today. Even if you were ovulating right now, its not a guarantee of pregnancy.

@BellaDee:  I’m living proof that what you’re doing isn’t an accurate way to predict ovulation. I was using apps and monitoring my CM. I had 32 day cycles and ovulated around CD 18…or so I thought.

DH and I had unprotected sex on CD 9 or 10 because I told him there was no way I could get pregnant since I wouldn’t ovulate for at least 8-9 days (Just FYI we did want a baby at that point but I’d had some miscarriages and was supposed to have tests a few weeks later so we weren’t really supposed to TTC that month). The rest of my cycle we used protection…we only had unprotected sex that one time…

Now I am almost 25 weeks pregnant!!!!

@BellaDee:  I am honestly just curious – if you aren’t doing anything other than CM and cycle length, how is it possible to predict when you O? I mean, I use fertility friend and they predicted my O date as 9/27 when I O’d 2-3 days earlier than that.
