The first dress I found that I loved was the David’s Bridal allover beaded lace trumpet dress, in ivory/champagne. To this day I regret not getting it, but I didn’t because it was over my very low budget. Found another dress that I felt I loved – the cut was very similar and it has some great details, and bought the sample off the rack for way low. But I’ve been second guessing the hell out of it lately. Like a fool I’ve been scoping Recycled Bride, and lo and behold, there’s the lace dress, in my size, for $375. It’s white instead of ivory but that’s not too big of a worry.
The dress I bought:
Pros: great detail on the shoulder straps and beadwork, figure flattering, sewn in long line bra, will be easily altered with the unique ideas I have and won’t cost a huge fortune with my seamstress.
Cons: it’s satin and is going to become uncomfortable and hot after a while, I’m just out of love with it.
Here’s the David’s dress I tried on in Feb. that I’ve found preowned for sale:
Pros: lace, which means it will be lighter and more comfortable, it will need minimal alterations, figure flattering, I’ve loved this dress since the beginning.
Cons: it’s $375 that I shouldn’t spend since I already have a dress.
A lot of Pros for both dresses, and minimal Cons to both dresses. I just can’t make a decision! So, I’d appreciate your input, bees.

go with the lace. They both look great on you, but the lace is more romantic and most importantly, what you really want. Sell the other one to absorb some of the cost, but 375 is such a steal! Try it on first tho, just to make sure the color doesnt throw you off.

The 1st dress is WAY more flattering

The lace one is so flattering on you. Maybe you can try to sell the first dress?

I think your original one suits you WAY better. The cut of the bust line is much softer and elegant, while the beadwork really cinches in the waistline and accentuates your curves in all the right places! If you decide to go with the second one, I think maybe getting a sash would be a good idea. while it is all lace, it looks a little, plain/nightgown-ish without anything to compliment it.

@carnivaltheme: Funny, my mom said something similiar back in Feb when I sent her the picture of the lace dress: “it sort of looks like a nighty”.
Looking at these side by side, I’m seeing what your saying about the detail at the waist of the first dress. That’s a real consideration. I’m pretty rubinesquely built and I do want to be sure I look curvaceous as opposed to big. So, add that into the pros column for the satin.

You look MUCH slimmer in the 1st one and much more elegant!

I remember a previous post of yours about your original dress. I still LOVE it. It’s unique, the beading is gorgeous and has a cool Art Deco feel, and it is incredibly flattering in the bust and waist. The lace one looks like dresses I have seen a million times before and as PPs have stated, has a little bit of a nighty feel. I vote satin.

I like the first one, it looks more flattering on you and the details on the front beautiful.

@GeekChic: That’s a really good point actually, that the lace dress looks like so many other dresses out there…

the 2nd one is way more flattering on you and I love it! but stop looking after this!

I have just voted for #1. However, reading your ‘Cons,’ I think the answer is there. For the first dress you said that you have fallen out of love with it. The Con for the second dress was the cost. I know $375.00 may be a lot of money but at the end of the day it is your wedding and you have to love your dress. You may be able to sell your first dress and get the $375.00 back that way.
Both dresses are lovely but the main thing is that you are happy on the day.
